FIRE WEATHER WATCH - A fire weather watch is in effect for the northern half of the Willamette Valley and the Clark county lowlands from Thursday afternoon to Thursday night (04/16/2020). Expect low RHs and easterly winds on top of the recent run of dry weather.

Please share the Northwest Wildfire Conference page with any firefighters you know who would love to participate in a day of training. All profits from registration and raffles will go to the WSCFF Burn Foundation.

A group of firefighters have been working behind the scenes on a special project to create an annual conference for wildland firefighters right here in the PNW. The goal is simple: Provide an excellent training opportunity and raise as much money possible for the Washington State Council of Firefighters Burn Foundation!

Our venue has been secured, the date is set, and the instructors have been confirmed.

What can you do to help? Stay tuned to this page. Share it with anyone you feel would love to attend. We'll be making announcements about keynote speakers, instructors, registration information, and raffle prizes RIGHT HERE on this page.

Grant County Sheriff's Office - Tom Jones, Sheriff

New - The 243 Fire is burning an estimated 3,000 acres or more in Grant county near Highway 26 and the Wanapum Village. The fire is reported to be a wind driven fire moving East. State Mobilization has been approved over night.

National Weather Service Watch Warning Advisory Summary

RED FLAG WARNING - For the Klamath Basin and Fremont -Winema National Forest areas for today, May 9th from 1 pm to 8 pm tonight. The warning calls for gusty northeast winds at 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and low RH 12 - 15 percent. Expect dried fuels leading to rapid fire growth and rapid fire growth on any existing fires.

NORTHWEST FIRE OUTLOOK: NWCC has released the fire potential outlooks and weather outlooks for the following months to come. Expect warmer and drier conditions with some areas west of the cascades to be close to drought conditions. Expect drier fuels earlier in the season and rapid fire growth. The next outlook will be the first weeks in June.

New - Chelan Hills Fire. Highway 97 is closed from Orondo to Beebe Bridge. Level 3 evacuations in place. 100+ acres. Any other info post it in the comments!!

New - Lake Chelan, Chelan Washington. The Fields landing Fire is in the area of Fields Landing on the south shore of Lake Chelan Multiple resources from local, state, and federal agencies are on scene including air attack. Level 2 evacs are in place as seen in the post below.

Fields Point Fire is currently burning up slope and in both up lake and downlake directions. It is burning in the same burn area as the 2015 fire that started in First Creek drainage and burn up lake into 25 Mile Creek area. As weather heats up and possible winds pick up, fire activity would be expected to increase. Due to the fire being in a three year old burn scar, the fire will be burning mostly in grass and small brush with some dead and downed timber intermixed.

Please avoid the area while fire crews work the area. A Level 2 evacuation was implemented for residences near the fire area.

Whitman County, 12 miles NE of Clarkston. Pasture, crops, electrical infrastructure, homes and outbuildings are threatened.

- Overnight, State Mobilization was authorized for the Milepost 22 Fire near Vantage, WA. Level 2 evacuations were issued for the town of Vantage, but have since been lowered to Level 1.

New - “Canyon Crest Fire” - Yakima County outside of Tampico. Structures threatened.

Estimated currently at 100 acres, wind driven with reports of thunderstorms in the area 🌩

New - Grant County bear Soap Lake area. Wind driven, level 3 evacuations in progress. See below for more info:

Level 3 Evacuation Notice: All homes on the east side of SR17 North, from milepost 91 south to city of Soap Lake. Wildfire. LEAVE NOW - WILDFIRE

City of Soap Lake not at risk. Only homes on the east side of SR17 N, in the rural areas northeast of town.

LEAVE NOW! POLICE ENROUTE TO NOTIFY RESIDENTS. Level 3 means you are in immediate danger. Load your family and pets into your vehicle, and GO NOW. There will be no further warnings! Follow facebook.com/GrantCoSheriff, Twitter and local media for updates.
