I've shared a few episodes for different reasons which I'm happy to explain.
First, because they represent my hard work. The fact that it IS my hard work is made evident by the fact that the release of new content came to a complete stop the moment I quit the production team.
I shared "It's Complicated" because it is a part of my own personal story. It was recorded at my desk, using my equipment, and originally uploaded to a host which I was paying for.
"Dying Out Loud" is special to me because it represents the first time I scheduled an interview with a public figure who I'd seen on TV. The guest went on to become a dear friend, and though I didn't conduct the interview, I scheduled, produced and edited it.
"A Starr Is Born" was one of the first interviews I'd conducted with a complete stranger. I was awkward and lacking in confidence but it was still an incredibly meaningful experience.
"If I Could Turn Back Time" was a turning point for the show that the other host was opposed to because the guest was an estranged mother, and the show had only featured estranged adult children up until this point. Again, the guest went on to become a dear friend, and where this chapter of her story crossed mine was special to me.
"Block. Block. Block." was the first time I had the opportunity to speak with one of my heroes. When he responded to my invitation to be on the show, I was in absolute shock! The guest was a HUGE influence on the trajectory of my life. I'm not willing to sweep this conversation under the rug.
"Things Will Get Different" was an opportunity for a close, personal friend of mine to share his tragic story. Even though I had heard many parts of it before, it was still incredibly moving.
If I wanted to steal anyone's work, I would have aimed much higher. The podcast was never popular, the download numbers have always been small, and the following 200 or less. Literally every one of my other projects has done MUCH better so it's not like I'm trying to get famous here...
My goal is to share a few small pieces of my work. Hopefully everyone who reads my reasons for sharing will gain a better understanding of my motivations.
