Another Heaven just announced a new EP (see previous post), Brief Candles are joining the mpls ltd family, and Basement Apartment are working on new material. We reissued Bobbi Boyle and the trio’s stunning 1967 LP “A Day in the Life” on CD in 2009 which is finally finding love once again. Check out a pretty detailed new write-up about this massively brilliant and under-appreciated talent.

Bobbi Boyle released two full-length jazz/pop albums in the late 1960s. My mom would go see her sing and play piano, either at the Money Tree in Toluca Lake, Chadney’s in Burbank or the Smoke House in Encino.

If I ever write the mpls ltd story for the three of you who might want to read it, I will tell the story about the several years I spent (which even included an NYC trip) with the unsuccessful hopes of releasing a Dolly Mixture reissue. Super excited to see Slumberland had the stamina and willpower to make this post-DM reissue happen!
