"Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on their God."

Today we celebrate 160 years of our church history. We have a guest speaker - Dr Koberson Langu

Dr. Koberson Langhu is from the state of Manipur. He is an assistant professor of church history and systematic theology at Spicer Adventist University, India. He holds a Bachelor of Theology from Spicer Memorial College and M. A. in Religion from Andrews University, Michigan, USA. In 2017, he completed his doctoral studies at Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies, Philippines, with a major in church history and a minor in systematic theology. His main areas of interests are Adventist history, reformation history, and systematic theology. He is passionate about music, lawn tennis, reading, writing, and traveling. He is married to Sanita Phawa, PhD (AIIAS), an assistant professor and Education Department Head. They are blessed with two daughters (Audrey and Stacey) and a son (Danny).

In these verses, Paul is specifying how Christians are saved and have eternal life. By good works? Because we’ve earned it? No! He explains that we are saved by grace (God’s free, unearned favor and forgiveness of sins) and that we have this grace by faith in Jesus Christ, and that alone.

"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry." Janes 4:19

Ellen White writes that "quick to listen" means being attentive and responsive to the needs of others, seeking to understand their point of view without being judgmental or dismissive. She notes that we should not rush to speak before we have carefully considered what we want to say and how it might affect others. She also stresses the importance of avoiding anger, which can lead to rash and hurtful behavior.

She goes on to explain that the ability to listen and control one's speech and emotions is a key aspect of Christian character, and that it requires a willingness to submit to God's will and guidance. She writes, "The true Christian is one who has learned to listen to the voice of God, and to speak and act in harmony with His will. He is patient, humble, and self-controlled, and is able to reflect the love and compassion of Christ in all his interactions with others."

James 4:19 emphasizes the importance of cultivating listening skills, self-control, and a humble and compassionate spirit in our relationships with others. These qualities are essential for following Christ's example and living a life of service and love.

Chapter 10-Kindness the Key to Hearts
Many Reached Only by Love and Kindness-Those who engage in house-to-house labor will find opportunities for ministry in many lines.
They should pray for the sick and should do all in their power to relieve them from suffering.
They should work among the lowly, the poor, and the oppressed. We should pray for and with the helpless ones who have not strength of will to control the appetites that passion has degraded. Earnest, persevering effort must be made for the salvation of those in whose hearts an interest is awakened. Many can be reached only through acts of disinterested kindness. Their physical wants must first be relieved. As they see evidence of our unselfish love, it will be easier for them to believe in the love of Christ.

Love is the ability to overcome offences by grace. Love is also the elimination of barriers, allowing oneself to be light and salt regardless of the circumstance, objections, and opinions of others. Love is not a feeling because if it were based on our feelings the difficulty of loving our enemy and blessing those who curse us, confirms that love could never win. Instead; love is confrontational, causing believers to confront prejudice, while examining Jesus' instruction to “love your neighbour as you love yourself.”
