We are pleased to announce that "Detained Under Houthis" is an award winner of August 2022, the 4th monthly qualifying season for the 2023 Annual Awards.

The film was shortlisted from a pool of submissions from 19 countries with a TRT (total runtime) of 49:18:11.

Final outcome of this season:
Official Selection - 36,5%
Award Winners - 27.9%

We attended the UK premiere screening of “Detained Under Houthis” at the Houses of Parliament. We were joined by a number of MPs, as well as a range of organisations including Amnesty International, Chatham House, Association of British Muslims and a number of experts and interested parties from LSE and UCL.

Genuine interest and support shown in highlighting the plight of women in Yemen who are continuing to be targeted by the Houthi regime in this forgotten conflict.

This is the first of four films THE WHY will be sharing this month as part of an awareness campaign entitled ‘What Happens to Women in War?’, and an online premiere for ‘Detained Under Houthis’.

A new film by Burst Pictures: (FILM LINK IN BIO)

The experiences of women in the ongoing conflict in Yemen have gone almost totally undocumented.

‘Detained Under Houthis’ amplifies these voices for the first time, providing testimonies of the brutality and torture women in Yemen have faced under the Houthis - an Islamist political and armed movement that seized power following the 2011 revolution and civil war in the country.

Three brave women who have survived grievous harm under the Houthis in Yemen have decided to speak out on film against their persecutors. They are calling for justice, accountability and an end to the violence in Yemen under Houthis.

This is the first of four films will be sharing this month as part of an awareness campaign entitled ‘What Happens to Women in War?’, and an online premiere for ‘Detained Under Houthis’. You can now watch it for free on the YouTube channel, link in bio.
