My story...

Angelus Mortem was born out of pure passion and dedication to the art of heavy metal. Ever since the age of 14, this music is a part of my life in ways that I cannot describe; it fits every emotion, every mood, and is always there for me when nothing else is.

Before finishing high school, I discovered a place known as Pushers in downtown Windsor, ON. They offered a program known as Project Push and they were teaching people various workshops to develop skillsets. One of these was a workshop called Urban Journalism and it was taught by a guy named Joe, who had his own show where he interviewed hip-hop artists (G-Eazy, Ghostface, to name a few). This was my first introduction to web-design. When asked for a name for a brand, I decided to pay ode to the almighty Slayer and name it Angelus Mortem, since Angel of Death was my first exposure to extreme metal.

Although the program disbanded before I could finish it, I still wanted to continue down this road. I enrolled at the University of Windsor that year and took up a double major in journalism and communications, media, and film, with the goal to use the knowledge gained from my education and apply it to my website.

The years of 2017-2018 mostly consisted of writing reviews of whatever albums caught my eye and the occasional interview under the pseudonym Obscurum (I know it’s silly and edgy, don’t bully me). I will never forget some of the amazing bands and labels that supported me during this time when I had literally no recogntion, namely Neckbreaker Records, Caco-Daemon Records, Phidion, Devangelic, and Inert.
