Woke up super early to check out this new Nephren-Ka album! If you saw my Dolorem Records video you know this band is not to be fu**ed with, but I'll tell ya why anyway.
Nephren-Ka was always a band that focused esoteric and occult themes relating to ancient culture and religion, so the mystical factor as well as the brutality come together perfectly on this album. There's plenty of variety to keep your toes curling and the seamless flow makes the experience go on and on.
Not to mention how the incredible song writing and vocals steal the show and make this album a guaranteed headbanger, too. If your death metal playlists are looking a little dry, look no further!

DEVANGELIC is Lucy's favorite band, although he can't handle it for too long. He starts to grow fast and eventually evolves into a politician.

RIP Sven Gross of Fleshcrawl 😔 he gave us the gift of his voice in the band since 1997 and still had such a bright future...44 is too soon. F**k

What are some of your favorite death metal releases that came out this year?
Thanks to your continued support, the channel has reached 150 subs! Nothing to brag about but I appreciate everyone that tunes in when I post a video, and comments, shares, etc. I'm getting around to posting more content, I think I'm settling into the new home now and my office looks a bit better. Anyways...hails.

Hey friends. No video until next week, I'm still getting the new place sorted out and figuring out how to use an oven...you know, adult stuff.
But anyway, the next video will be on Cathartic Demise and their debut album "In Absence". It's a real freight train of a record and an incredible example of Canadian metal; I'd say the Kitchener area is one of the best scenes in the country. Check it out if you haven't yet!
Look Nuclear Blast Records have comitted some sins, ok. I don't like every band they sign and they tend to milk the f**k out of the more popular bands on their roster (you think there's enough Slayer merch and vinyl already? Anyway.)
Point is there is a way to conduct yourself professionally, even IF the label did something terrible (which as of now we don't even know what happened so it would be wrong to just assume that). These actions aren't okay at all, and if Rings of Saturn feels like they've been wronged in some way they could of pursued it with healthier avenues.
There are no handouts and definetely no shortcuts in the metal industry, and threatening the label you're signed to as a way to gain some perks is a big ouf. As a fan I'm pretty disappointed, and I hope the situation gets resolved at least to where the band and the label can be on good terms. Those are my 2 cents.
(Also no I didn't enjoy their last album. Not that it matters in this context but I can't help myself lol)
Nuclear Blast claim Lucas Mann threatened to publicly condemn the label.

The Scott Funnel interview is 4 hits away from 500! It still kind of amazes me that this is my most viewed video on my channel; it's incredible to see how much impact pure passion for one's music scene can have on others, and stories like Scott's should never be forgotten. I'll admit this video is a nostalgia trip even for me!
Scott "Scotty" Funnel in undoubtedly the most prominent figure in Windsor's punk and metal scene. He's fronted numerous bands over the years, booked shows at...

The Dolorem Records review is live! I went over Creeping Fear, SlaveOne, Abyssal Ascendant, Towering, Storm Upon The Masses (and gave Voorhees - Old School Death-Metal and Nervous Decay a little shoutout, too 😉) for a comprehensive expose of what the French underground has to offer. Enjoy ,friends 🤘🔥
This week I explore Dolorem Records; an indepdendent extreme metal metal label out of France that is dedicated to bringing forward some of the countries best...
Happy birthday to the riff composer and poser disposer Kyle Edissi of Invicta Metal! I remember when they headlined at Dominion House Tavern (The DH) alongside Domination and Viridius in Dec. 2018, some good f**kin times...hopefully I'll see 'em on stage again 🙃

My story...
Angelus Mortem was born out of pure passion and dedication to the art of heavy metal. Ever since the age of 14, this music is a part of my life in ways that I cannot describe; it fits every emotion, every mood, and is always there for me when nothing else is.
Before finishing high school, I discovered a place known as Pushers in downtown Windsor, ON. They offered a program known as Project Push and they were teaching people various workshops to develop skillsets. One of these was a workshop called Urban Journalism and it was taught by a guy named Joe, who had his own show where he interviewed hip-hop artists (G-Eazy, Ghostface, to name a few). This was my first introduction to web-design. When asked for a name for a brand, I decided to pay ode to the almighty Slayer and name it Angelus Mortem, since Angel of Death was my first exposure to extreme metal.
Although the program disbanded before I could finish it, I still wanted to continue down this road. I enrolled at the University of Windsor that year and took up a double major in journalism and communications, media, and film, with the goal to use the knowledge gained from my education and apply it to my website.
The years of 2017-2018 mostly consisted of writing reviews of whatever albums caught my eye and the occasional interview under the pseudonym Obscurum (I know it’s silly and edgy, don’t bully me). I will never forget some of the amazing bands and labels that supported me during this time when I had literally no recogntion, namely Neckbreaker Records, Caco-Daemon Records, Phidion, Devangelic, and Inert.
In mid 2018, I had a bit of a...well, let’s just call it a rough patch. I lost hope in my dream and descended down a road of wasting my time and feeling sorry for myself. After a series of unfortunate events lead me towards a sort of rock-bottom, I realized that metal was still the one thing I could always rely on to keep me sane. I had so much heart for this music that I couldn’t let myself down, so at the dawn of 2019, Angleus Mortem made it’s epic return.
I re-designed the website and started working on my writing more, improving the articles and trying to make them look more appealing. Eventually, I decided to finally invlove myself with the local Windsor scene and take up photography.
The following is something that I could never expected; not only did my city have increidble bands, but a strong and tight community of people that welcomed me with open arms. My first local concert was at the historic Dominion House & Tavern and I met my now long-time friends in Viridius; a fresh band at the time. After leaving the show with some pictures, videos, and a thrown together interview just for the hell of it, I felt warmth in my metal heart that I never felt before. I wanted this to be my life.
I took a break from angelusmortem.com and started building connections with the local scene all throughout 2019. This consisted of going to every show I could and meeting each band, talking to them, taking photos and generally having a ball. It was incredible to finally be accepted into a group of people that cared for what I was doing and being able to support them in the process. My audience was building and I had a clearer vision of where this was all heading.
As of right now, I’m continuing the work I’ve been doing up to this point and there’s going to be a lot of improvements down the road, too. I’m grateful for all the support I’ve gained throughout the years and I can’t thank my amazing supporters enough for it, so I’m never going to stop supporting the metal scene no matter if it’s local or halfway across the world. Angelus Mortem will always be your hub for exciting metal content, with plenty of bands to discover and music to bang your heads to. As the metal underground keep growing and evolving, so am I. Metal will never fu***ng die!!!
