Dear Readers,

We the editors are delighted to announce our Pushcart Prize nominees for The Plague Papers.

We wish we could have nominated ALL of you, but alas, they allow only six entries. Choosing which poems to nominate was a little like having to choose a favorite child. But we did it.

Congratulations, and thank you all for your words and your work!

Dear Readers:

We've been quiet for a while, but we've been busy. I'm thrilled to announce that we have just launched a special issue, an e-anthology titled "The Plague Papers" and guest edited by Associate Editor Robbi Nester.

It began as a call for those of sheltering at home to pay virtual visits to museums and other cultural sites and to write something in response to a piece that affected them.

This is an eclectic anthology. In addition to poems about paintings:

We have poems about eels, an octopus, and museum-going penguins.

We have a visit to the medical museum, a museum of oddities, and a museum of witchcraft.

We have poems written in response to a virtual tour of the Statue of Liberty, and to Michelangelo's Davide.

We have a poem written about a p***s bone. (Yes, there is one. Look it up.)

Did you know there is an archive of lost forests?

Start here: www.Poemeleon.me

Browse the issue by painting, by museum, or by author.

Enjoy!

Dear Patient Readers,

It’s been a long, slow process, but I’m happy to announce that The Truth/y Issue, in the newest iteration of the Poemeleon website (at www.Poemeleon.me), has just launched, complete with 26 poets, 13 book reviews, four new “spotlights” segments curated by Maureen, and a new “Notes from Abroad” segment curated by Ren Powell, with a lovely, long interview with Natasha Sardzoska, a North Macedonian poet.

Our editorship now spans three continents and four countries: Norway, Australia, Canada, and the United States. With many countries now subject to stay-at-home orders, we hope that this new issue will give you hours of reading pleasure.

(And fear not: Back issues will remain online and housed at our legacy site, but after 15 years, it was time to trade up. See the “read the issues” page for relevant links.)

Be well, and stay home.

Cati on behalf of the editorial staff

Judy, rob, Maureen, Ren, Charlotte, Robbi, and Bridget

poemeleon - Current Issue

Grateful to the kick-ass poets Kenji Liu and Angela Peñaredondo for pulling together the Asian Pacific American issue of Poemeleon, in which they "...wanted to present a slice of what scholar Timothy Yu calls “a coalitional space,” a certain grouping of poets and poetry, varied but bound by a common, yet permeable political position." Please go read. Please share.
