Universal Wrestling Archives, Inc. In the late 1960's through the late 1980's, a Professional Wrestling promotion was built by wrestling great Cowboy Bill Watts. Ms. a.k.a. UWA.

Universal Wrestling Archives sells: Professional Wrestling Merchandise, MSW Mid-South Wrestling DVD, PPW Power Pro Wrestling DVD, UWF Universal Wrestling Federation DVD, Pro Wrestling TShirts, House Show Series DVD and Pro Wrestling Books. The promotion spanned many of the Mid-Southern states in the U.S.: Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Eastern Texas and Southern Missouri. The promotio

n was appropriately named Mid-South Wrestling. The Mid-South Wrestling broadcasts enjoyed exceptional ratings success. In fact, they were in the top three of syndicated programming nationwide at the time. Because of its success, Mid-South spawned a second set of syndicated broadcasts, called Power Pro Wrestling. Although the promotion covered a small area of the United States, wrestling followers all over the world became fans of Mid-South. The matches weren't glitzy or fancy. They were no-nonsense, get down to business REAL wrestling. The promotion eventually grew to nationwide syndication, and was renamed The Universal Wrestling Federation. The UWF featured the same great athletes and matches. Only the name changed to reflect the wide distribution of the program. The ownership again changed in 1990 when Ene Sooro Watts acquired the sole rights to the three promotions and their by products. Watts has other media interests as well, therefore naming the distribution company, Universal Wrestling Archives, Inc. If you are accustomed to the lights and pyrotechnics of today's wrestling, you might not know what to think of these matches at first. But after you see the quality of what goes on inside the ring, you'll be hooked. These shows are legendary for their outstanding matches and wild antics. You will notice too that even though it's a "no-holds barred" atmosphere, the wrestlers kept their body language and their spoken language clean. You won't see the innuendo and filth that accompany most of today's wrestling. The promotion was fertile ground for wrestling stars. Many of wrestling’s greatest names either got their start in the Mid-South or appeared on the broadcasts. Browse our on-line catalog and find out!

I have been watching a lot Mid-South Wrestling on Peacock TV and I love it due to Professional Wrestling being more Traditional back in the 1980's and I really miss the more Traditional type Professional Wrestling and I do prefer Traditional Professional Wrestling over Sports Entertainment. Mid-South Wrestling didn't need the exposure of Madison Square Garden since they had many awesome events at the New Orleans Superdome. A lot of the Mid-South Wrestling Talent that was in Mid-South and UWF Wrestling are in the WWE and Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame

Here's a then and now pictures of Terry Taylor and Terry Taylor was one of the very popular Professional Wrestler in Mid-South/UWF Wrestling besides the Junkyard Dog and Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Terry Taylor was a solid performer in Mid-South Sports and I will never hold that silly Red Rooster gimmick against Terry Taylor and in the WWF/WWE. he was poorly misused with his amazing talents.

Let's remember and take a look at the Mid-South North American Championship belt and I was 10 years old when I first saw the Mid-South North American Championship belt and that was when Mid-South Wrestling was briefly aired on WTBS back in early 1985 as an alternative to WWF being on WTBS before the first WrestleMania. I remember the Mid-South North American Champion at the time was the Late Great Brad Armstrong and I thought that the Mid-South North American Championship belt was almost as big as Brad Armstrong was and shortly after I saw Ted Dibiase win it from Brad Armstrong and then Terry Taylor won it in a title for title match and I saw three North American Champions while Mid-South Wrestling was briefly on WTBS and I enjoyed watching Mid-South Wrestling when was on the Superstation as a 10 year old and was so impressed with the 27 pounds of the Silver and Gold and even though this is only replica and it's not the actual original physical Mid-South North American Championship belt! It's still a very impressive Championship belt and I am still very much a big Fan of the 27 pounds of the silver and gold Mid-South North American championship belt!

Let's remember the Life and Times of this amazing Athlete that was tough as nails and came of Oklahoma as a well known Oklahoma Sooner and he left us 12 years ago today and he was well known in Mid-South Sports and was the last UWF Champion and that is the Good Doctor Dr. Death Steve Williams, may be gone, never FORGOTTEN Live on Dr. Death Steve Williams.

years ago today our sport lost one of the toughest ever to compete, "Dr Death" Steve Williams lost his battle with throat cancer. Williams was a starter for the Oklahoma Sooners and played in the Fiesta Bowl, The Orange Bowl and the Sun Bowl. He was trained for Pro Wrestling by Bill Watts and Buddy Landell and made his debut in Mid South in 1982. He would go on to hold the UWF World Title, He held the Mid-South and UWF Tag Titles with Ted Dibiase. In the NWA he was a member of the Varsity Club with Mike Rotundo and Rick Steiner and was a member of the Miracle Violence Connection with Terry Gordy, one of the best names for a tag team in history! He had a pretty uneventful run in the WWF in the 90s hampered by his loss and injury in the ill-fated Brawl for All tournament. Williams held dozens of titles in his career and was voted PWI's Most Improved Wrestler of the Year for 1985 and the Tag Team of the Year for 1992 with Terry Gordy. In 2004, Williams underwent surgery for throat cancer and was declared cancer-free the next year. The throat cancer would return and his health went downhill. On December 29, 2009, Williams died in Denver, Dr Death was 49 years old.

I know silly question!

Which version on the North American Championship is better between the current NXT Version of the North American Championship or the Classic 27 pounds of Silver & Gold Mid-South North American Championship and I am very partial towards the Mid-South Version of the North American Championship and I believe the Tri-State/Mid-South original Version comes in second to the 27 pounds of Silver & Gold 👍

I found this awesome picture of Dr. Death Steve Williams and Terry Bam Bam Gordy! Their rivalry in mid 1986 and 1987 over the UWF Championship was off the hook and it actually topped and was much more worth watching than seeing Hulk Hogan Wrestle Paul Orndorff or King Kong Bundy on Saturday Night Main Event or Dusty Rhodes, Magnum T.A. or Ronnie Garvin getting Jumped by the 4 Horsemen. They were an Outstanding TagTeam in Japan and Dr. Death Steve and Terry Gordy had really good chemistry and I was really happy to see them in1992 when they won the WCW and NWA World Tag Team Championships because they deserved it and they two Great Professional Wrestling Talents that left us way too early and God Bless the Memory of Steve Williams and Terry Gordy. Gone but not forgotten 🙏🙏
