What comes to your mind when you hear the word mining?
Is mining all about gold, minerals, and precious stones?
Or are there also dangers behind the industry of mining?
Mining is the process of extracting valuable minerals from the surface of the Earth, including the seas. Mined materials such as minerals and inorganic substances are needed to construct roads and hospitals, build automobiles and houses, make computers and satellites, generate electricity, and provide the many other goods and services consumers enjoy. However, mining could be dangerous not just for humans but also for our environment. Disasters and accidents can happen anytime and anywhere, which is why it is essential to be informed on what to do before, during, and after a mining disaster. To learn more about mining and mining disasters, what it is, how to prevent, mitigate, prepare for them, and recover from their aftermath, watch this video prepared by 3COM3's group 4.

Promoting Nuclear Safety Initiatives: Stay Informed on Nuclear Safety Issues and Development, Support Responsible Energy Practices, and Be Prepared for Nuclear Emergencies.
Knowledge is Power.
It is crucial to remember that it takes collective action to ensure nuclear safety. To stay alert and informed about potential nuclear disasters, these are the necessary steps and measures:
1. Stay Updated: actively monitor or listen to reliable and reputable news sources and information as well as the precautionary measures of government officials that provide important information on nuclear safety, emergency preparedness, and possible threats.
2. Create an emergency kit and plan evacuation routes.
3. Sign up for alerts: register for emergency alert systems specifically in your area in order to receive timely and helpful notifications just in case there is a nuclear emergency.
4. Follow social media pages of the local authorities and relevant organizations in your area for continuous updates, instructions, and plans.
5. Know Emergency Contacts Handy: keep a list of the needed emergency hotlines.
6. Follow the further instructions from authorities and don’t hesitate to ask for professional help if needed.
Prioritize your safety by regularly reviewing and updating your emergency plans. Thus, ensure that your family, loved ones, and the people around your community are aware of these safety measures.
