Hardscrabble Press Hardscrabble Press was created in the year 2011 to publish literature for Author Barbara Jean McHugh.

The term “hardscrabble” has been used loosely as a definition of someone who has managed to make something of value by “pulling themselves up by their boot straps”, or in this case to create a venue for publishing writing and photography that does not fit into the usual mainstream format. The logo is of the original log cabin that literally houses the production facility for Hardscrabble Press, an

d was the inspiration for the name of the business. The photo was taken at the turn of the century and over the next 150 years with hard work and Midwestern fortitude this little homestead has flourished. At this time we are not accepting unsolicited manuscripts from other authors.
