By Katelyn Polantz and Tierney Sneed, CNN CNN — Federal prosecutors who’ve brought the 2020 election interference criminal case against Donald Trump are seeking to start to the trial on January 2, 2024, days before the anniversary of the attack on the US Capitol and the Iowa caucuses. The special counsel’s office said in a filing Thursday that its presentation of evidence in the trial would take “no longer than four to six weeks,” meaning that Trump may need to spend his weekdays in court before a jury in the crucial first two months of a presidential election year, as primary voting begins for Republicans....

An FBI agent's supervisor told him to halt an investigation into Rudy Giuliani and cut ties with any informants who reported on the corruption of former President Donald Trump's associates in August 2022, a 22-page whistleblower complaint obtained by Insider shows. The 14-year veteran of the bureau, whose tenure includes a long-term assignment to Russia-centered counterintelligence, alleged in the statement that his bosses interfered with his work in "a highly suspicious suppression of investigations and intelligence-gathering" seeking to shield "certain politically active figures and possibly also FBI agents" who were tied to Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs....

‘SMALL YARD, HIGH FENCE’: President Joe Biden has signed a narrowly focused executive order aimed at curbing U.S. investment in critical Chinese national security-related technologies, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors and microelectronics. The executive order cites the threat from “countries of concern” that are “acquiring and diverting the world’s cutting-edge technologies, for the purposes of achieving military dominance,” and which “significantly enhances their ability to conduct activities that threaten the national security of the United States.” But in an annex, only one such country is named: China, as well as its special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau....

Special Counsel Jack Smith sought and obtained a search warrant for Donald Trump’s Twitter account, , on Jan. 17, 2023, according to newly revealed court documents.
