Nearly 100 houses burned down in Thantlang Town

Over 96 houses including a Church were burned as of November 27, according to data released by the Thantlang Placement Affairs Committee -IDPs help today (November 28) which started on November 25 by the regime soldiers, adding that currently, the fire has not stopped until this evening.

At least 96 houses were burned down in Thantlang town between November 25-28 by the regime military based in the area, according to local outlets, citing from residents who observed the incident from a distance with drone technology support, adding that the fire started on November 25 and continued until today (November 28) after it occurred for more than 9 times from different places in the town. #

The regime troops who are based in Thantlang town were scorching other houses earlier today.

At least two houses were ablaze as of 2 pm today in Thantlang Town, a local outlet reported, adding the fire had not stopped until 5:30 pm.

"There could be more houses down as there would be no one to put out the fire," said a local resident who saw the incident from a distance.

At around the same time of the burning in Thantlang, heavy explosions and gunshots were heard in Hakha, the capital of Chin State, from 5:25 pm.

As of 7:20 pm, at least 12 heavy and loud explosions were heard and over a hundred shots were fired during an exchange of gunfire from the west of Hakha, said a local resident. #

Multiples fighting and explosions occurred in Hakha

Firefights and loud explosions were heard several times in the Chin capital's Hakha in the last 24-hours.

"At around 11:26 pm last night, we heard multiple exchanges of gunfires in Hakha" according to local residents, adding that it continued with blasts and heavy explosions in the morning at around 5-6 am today.

The exact place where the fighting occurred still remained unknown.

"Another gunfires and shootings were reported this morning at around 10:30 am this morning, according to some local residents, adding that the fighting happened near Hakha Police Station."

Update at 2:30 pm -

At least 11 regime soldiers were killed in clashes in two different locations in Hakha, local outlets reported, adding that the attack has been carried by a joint force of Chin National Army and Chinland Defense Force.

Three regime soldiers reportedly killed in Mindat Town

31 October 2021 -- At least three regime troops have been killed after about an hour of clashes between the Chinland Defense Forces (CDF) and the junta's armed forces in Chin State's Mindat town today.

A local outlet, The Chinland Post reported that, at around 3:30-4:30 pm on Sunday, clashes broke out inside the town, adding that they were near Myanmar Economic Bank, Mindat-Kanpetlet Road's junction, and west block of the town.

"At least three regime soldiers were killed and one CDF member got injured,” said local resident, adding that following the fighting, the regime troops arrested two local youth and allegedly tortured, who were later released again at around 8 pm tonight. #

Over 100 houses, including religious buildings, are reported to have burned down in Chin State's Thantlang Town as of 7:00 pm tonight.

Following clashes between the Chinland Defense Force (CDF) and regime soldiers, the Thantlang town has been facing the largest fire, according to outlets, adding that it is currently burning and over a hundred houses were scorched after regime soldiers open fire heavy weaponry over the residential area early today.

"At least 100 houses, including religious buildings, have burned to the ground and fire still spreading under clear weather in Thantlang after junta soldiers deliberately set fire to a town recently abandoned by over 10,000 residents, according to Chin Human Rights Organization, adding that Lt. Col Thaung Hlaing of Light Infantry Battalion 269 is the most senior commander who heads a combined force of LIB 269, LIB 222 and LID 11 currently stationed in Thantlang.

Thantlang Town has been abandoned since September 18 after clashes broke out, according to local residents, adding that over 18 houses were burned during the first incident. #

In Pictures: Over A Dozen Houses Scorched in Chin State

The regime soldiers patrolling in Chin State scorched more than a dozen houses in Falam Townships, according to local outlets, adding that 11 houses in Taal village and 3 more houses in Thlanrawn village in Falam Township today.

A total of 8 houses were burned down to ashes in Taal village and 3 houses in Thlanrawn, village residents said.

The regime troops stayed in Thlanrawn village between October 14-15 where they burned 13 houses and another 3 houses in Taal village on October 16-19 when they left [the villages], local outlet Chin Journal reported, adding that it was on their way to Hakha from Falam.

Houses were burned following the armed clashes between the Chin local joint forces Chinland Defense Force/Chin National Army and the regime troops, according to The Chinland Post, adding that the fighting resulted in the death of over 20 regime soldiers and the destruction of 16 military trucks en route for Chin capital, Hakha.

Over 100 houses including Christian churches have been destroyed in Chin State since the coup, according to Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO), adding that at least 60 houses and two Christian churches were totally destroyed and burned down completely.

In July, the regime soldiers had stationed at a Christian church in Taal village where they misused the church, threw and burned Christian hymn books as well as the Holy Bible. #

Breaking: Telecommunication shut down in Hakha

Tele network both the internet and regular communication via mobile as well as landline were shut down at around 7:15 pm tonight after a loud explosion was heard in Hakha, multiple outlets reported, adding that the place of an explosion is still unknown.

According to multiple local outlets, people outside Hakha town were complaining about the shutdown of telecommunication in Hakha via social media as they cannot reach and are worried about family, relatives in town as fighting have been going on between local resistance groups CNA/CDF and the regime troops since the last two days in the area between Falam and Hakha townships.

The telecommunication has not been restored at the time of reporting, reported, adding that telecommunication in Kalay Town was also down except for Ooredoo service. #

In Pictures: Junta scorched over 20 houses in Falam Township

Junta troops heading for clearance operation in northern Chin state have been torching houses in villages on a national highway no. 40 between Falam and Hakha Townships since yesterday.

In Falam township, regime troops burned at least 4 houses yesterday and another 9 houses including a Baptist Church in Rialti village today, according to local outlets, adding that at least 10 other houses scorched down as of this afternoon in Thlanrawn village.

According to Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO), "Junta forces torched an entire village of 13 houses & a church at Rialti Village. They also burned at least 10 houses at Thlanrawn Village, both located on the Falam-Hakha highway as fighting with CDF/CNA resistance fighters escalate.

There were also reports of looting and pillaging, CHRO added.

According to local, residents in those villages were in hiding since learning about the troop reinforcement and operation in Chin state. #

Fighting erupts in Hakha, soldiers arrest four local civilians today

13 October 2021 - Loud explosions were heard at around 10:30 am today in Hakha, according to local residents, adding that some local youth were arrested by the regime soldiers.

"Residents have left the area (outskirt of Hakha city) since the morning as fighting occurred at around 9:30 in the morning" local outlet Chin Journal reported, adding that following the incidents, at least four people including a minor, 13-year-old were arrested at around 10:30 in Hakha's Hniarlawnthar area where a SKAT truck was also taken by soldiers.

In separate incidents, fighting has been happening near Chuncung, a village on a national highway between Falam and Hakha till 4 pm today. #

HIGH-VALUE DEFECTION: Two close aides, a driver & a Personal Assistant to Deputy Chief of North Western Military Command Brig-Gen. Myo Htut Hlaing have defected from their base in Mount Rung in Hakha. According to the defectors, the wives and family members of all soldiers & civilian members of SAC, including Chairman Ngun San Aung, have been provided with arms. They reveal low morale, fear and insubordination among the ranks and files, which has been put under a tight lid. Among the examples of insubordination is the refusal to obey direct orders of the Deputy Commander by field military commander in Thantlang to reinforce troops in Lungler who were being overrun by CDF fighters on Sept 10. Brig-Gen Myo Htut Hlaing reportedly provided false reports to his superiors in the NW Command Hqrs in Monywa to cover up the insubordination.

Update (Oct. 8): Gunshots and explosions have been heard around Mt. Rung and the side of Khuathar Ward in Hakha at about 7:40 pm tonight. “We heard loud explosions at least four times. Three of them were from Mt. Rung military tactical command base and the other from west of the town said a local resident, adding that it has been some few days since they did not hear gunshots and explosions at night following the request made by the town elders and pastors toward the local resistance fighter Chinland Defense Force and the regime military. #

Update: Regime soldiers conduct targeted arrest of youth and demanding money for their release in Hakha

Over the weeks between September 26-October 3, the regime soldiers and police force conducted random check days and nights targeting CDM participants and members of the Chinland Defense Force (CDF) where they arrested at least 87 people to which half of them were released a few days later, according to local outlets, the Chin Journal.

“At least 42 were still detained at police lock-up in Chin capital’s Hakha”, said a local Christian pastor on October 5. He added that they (soldiers) mainly targeted youth, young men who roamed around the town in the afternoon were arrested at makeshift checkpoints set up in various locations in Hakha where soldiers frisked commuters and checked their mobile phones.

Most of the people who got released were through intervention made by town elders and Christian pastors following the incidents, said Chin Human Rights Organization (CHRO), adding that at least 15 percent of those released gave some bribery between 700,000-1,200,000 kyat ($400 - $650) per person for release, depending on the case with the police telling the family to keep it secret. CHRO added Monetization of arrest and detention puts youths at further risks of falling prey to corrupt officials who benefit off people's fear under a state of terror imposed by the Junta. #

Regime soldiers open fired and killed two civilians in Thantlang

According to the Chin Human Rights Organization ( ) two civilians, in their 60s and 70s, are dead & a 3rd person received a bullet wound to the head, following attacks by regime soldiers yesterday, and adding that their car came under sudden attacks with sprays of automatic gunfire when attempting to retrieve their belongings from the abandoned Thantlang Town.

The victims were part of a group of 4-person passengers traveling to Thantlang in an SUV reportedly with the knowledge and consent of the commander of the regime troop unit stationed in Thantlang Town, which was deserted after its destruction on Sept 18 due to artillery shelling, CHRO reported.
