APP employees protest over non-payment of arrears

ISLAMABAD: Employees of the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) on Friday staged a sit-in against non-payment of arrears and the stoppage of various allowances for last two years.

The protesters believed that overstaffing, opening of new offices and recruitment of unqualified persons in last four years caused the prevailing financial crunch. They said the situation has got so serious that one of the staffers in an act of despair attempted self-immolation after the management failed to pay back his contribution of the provident fund.
