Local families are starting a chapter of the Mended Little Hearts foundation. Congenital heart defects (CHDs) are the most common birth defect in the US, affecting 1 in 100 babies. All heart families are invited to the inaugural meeting of the Mended Little Hearts of Central Washington, Feb. 10 at 6:00pm at Children’s Village in Yakima. The Bridge Community Center at Yakima Alliance Church (902 S 36th Ave) has a Mom and Tots play group that meets every Tuesday from 9:30am-11:30am in the nursery. It's almost time for All About Fun's annual spring break party! This year they'll set up 28 bounce houses, slides, obstacle courses and more at Selah's Wixson Park from noon to 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Admission is by donation; funds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. Have fun!

Are Legos your secret anti-burglar weapon?

On April 26th at 11 am you can join the action and try to break the current world record for most cloth diapers changed at the same time around the world. (Last year the unofficial number of babies changed was 10,026 around the world.)
The Yakima Valley Great Cloth Diaper Change will be taking place at Whitney Elementary (4411 W Nob Hill Blvd, Yakima). At 11 am SHARP! So make sure you are there with plenty of time to get signed in and set up.
There will also be a Healthy Homes, Happy Families Expo going on at the same location, from 10am -2pm. So you will also be able to shop local vendors, and check out some mini seminars!

The Yakima Valley Museum will host the 3rd annual Blossom Festival — an event for young kids — from 5-7:30 p.m. April 11. Activities include a silent auction, decorating and planting your very own flower pot, face painting, hair feathers, crafts, music, games and more! Child-friendly food and beverages will be served. Admission is $10 per adult, $5 per child, and no more than $25 per family. Tickets can be purchased at the Yakima Valley Museum. There may be a small charge for some activities.

Tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. Friday for Kidz Bop. The Kidz Bop Kids will perform March 29 at the Yakima Convention Center. A Christian support group for single moms group is starting next month in Terrace Heights. The group, HOPE AND HELP FOR SINGLE LADIES, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Feb. 4. Children are welcome. Meetings will be at a home; call Kathleen at 509-969-2343 for more info.
The group will be based around a book called "Hope and Help for Single Moms: 21 Principles of a Healthy Single Mom." Meetings will include book discussion, fellowship, prayer and group activities with the kids.
