Did your ex throw your laptop across the room? I can probably fix it (or at least recover important work files)!

A task that Apple or similar services have been historically too lazy to do or charge way too much for.

Before (top) and after (bottom) design and code refactor of this website. There was a bit of spacing inconsistency, repetitious code, and other elements to be improved upon. Roughly 3 hours of work. @ Brooklyn, New York

Working on some informational motion graphics for Instagram stories.

This was being worked on as a tool to quote highlighted text. This was a prototype in roughly 2011 or 2012, I’m almost certain Medium has a feature like this now. Something that can easily be recreated for a site.

This was a rework of an information kiosk that was originally worked on in 2016. This was a web app for that was in development 2018 to 2019. The project was to digitize the current set of drug info cards so that people may have access to the information outside of the booth, without having to take physical cards to learn about the drug. It was also a prototype for being able to have digital informational resources in venues where DanceSafe booths are typically not present.

The app could run locally on a computer or on a Raspberry Pi connected to a portable touchscreen monitor (not a tablet, just a monitor), or it could run on a standard browser via an API that served all the content to the front-end. You could send the info files to yourself (or friend) via text message (via Twilio API) or email, or you could share it to Twitter or Facebook. Exploring much more simplified solutions at this point, but it was a fun experiment. It’s just high maintenance and not cost effective.

It's been a long time since I've done this, but Chase's website was being janky and I struggled to select a date to pay my bill due to the footer overlapping the last week in the datepicker. Z-index wasn't the problem. Not really sure what it was, but a little additional height or padding just to reveal the datepicker was fine. There's a bunch of white space anyway. Not like it would have broken the design with all that whitespace.

Code Rascal | Writing a microservice in Ruby

Writing a microservice in Ruby - via https://t.co/DRmH48z5QY

Writing a microservice in Ruby Posted on Mar 8 Everybody is talking about microservices, but I haven’t seen a lot of good, comprehensive descriptions of how to actually write a microservice in Ruby. This may be because a significant number of Ruby developers are still most comfortable with Rails (wh...

Apparently I'm still an admin for this site. Weird, I thought they would've reset all the permissions and everything after the site was launched. It's been changed a bit since last year when I worked on this.

Sorry I've been so inactive on here but isht has been crazy! Tune into The Pitch on AMC May 14th to see my network television debut premiere, representing part of the development team at Conversation Agency, LLC. Other than that, if you love your mom and want to write something about her, do it HERE!

The left column already had position relative, which allows it to be given a z-index for layering objects on a page. Gave the left column a z-index of 5 just to be safe, and sure enough, the content was no longer being overlapped by the left column. Skillz.

20/01/2012

I removed the hidden overflow property, and it still falls behind content. There is no z-index on that sidebar (technically it's set to 0, but the left column doesn't have a z-index at all, so the layering remains unchancged). Html automatically layers content from top to bottom in the document, so naturally the sidebar is on top.

20/01/2012

Went to share this story on Facebook and found that the box was being cut off. Inspected the styles and found that there is a fixed width on the box (which is expected), but overflow is set to hidden. Everything outside of the 678px width will be cut off. I couldn't leave a message and reach the "share to facebook" button.

Wow. Don't even know where to begin with this one. This site is just busted.

Was looking for some information on the CES website and noticed that they're having a bit of overlooked z-index issues. The dropown is being overlapped by the tabs below the slideshow.

Avatar Test

I made a super basic test avatar type building tool for a project I'm working on. Can't wait to flesh this out into something more, maybe create some kind of plug-in out of it later on if I have the chance, because when I googled this apparently an open-source version of something like this doesn't already exist.

Div soup - The excessive use of div tags when simpler methods could have been used. Now there's just a cl*******ck of unnecessary code.

A drop down menu is as simple as an unordered list. Yet, this site has a div, inside of a div, inside of a div. They add a class of "hilite" to create the hover effect, when anchor tags already have a hover pseudoclass to do that job.

16/11/2011

Simple fix. Make the list style default back to "outside" and give it a left margin for alignment.

Remember when Media Fire was a hot mess of ads and awkward UI? Well look at this sleek redesign and check out how easy it is now to make an upload straight from the homepage.
