The Gelato is a font foundry set up by me, I-Tim!, a font designer from Thailand. "The Gelato" relates to the meaning of my nickname, "I-Tim," which means ice cream! I want all my customers to feel the fun and enjoyable moments when shopping and using the variety of my fonts as if they are choosing their favorite gelato flavors!
Ever since I was young, I have always been interested in letters, shapes, and all, giving me a love for creating pretty letters, calligraphy, and wordings. I have won several Handwriting contests ever since primary school. With the effort of practicing neat and pretty handwriting in Thai and English, I started to dig deeper and develop handwritten fonts as a hobby in my second year at my university in 2020. I started my small business of creating handwritten fonts since then, initially for digital school notes, when the pandemic shifted from traditional note-taking to all digital. Thanks to my passion and love for pretty letters, I expanded my expertise in creating hand-lettering calligraphy fonts for handmade crafts. Later on, I decided to take some courses to improve my font making skills from more experienced teachers, both from Thailand and internationally.
My font-making process starts with hand drafting on paper/iPad and using font-making software to resemble actual handwriting. Although my major was nowhere near design, I enjoy teaching myself new skills in utilizing font-making software. I first started with amateur software, and now I am using professional font-making software called "Glyphs" to create my fonts and boost the higher quality of my fonts to deliver to all my customers.
My fonts provide English language characters and cover Western European Languages with accented special characters, symbols, and punctuations. You can message me for a custom language addition request for any fonts. I message you back within 24 hours to answer all your questions, whether it is about font installation methods, language support, or compatible programs!
