Today is a sad day as we announce that the Independent Music Podcast is going to stop producing at the end of the year.

It's been an incredible journey, over 13 years we've produced 439 episodes and championed 5,300 artists and labels at the outer reaches of music from (very nearly) every country on Earth.

We talk a little bit about why we're doing this on this week's podcast but - in short - it's high intensity to dig out music that very few others are talking about from far flung corners of the Earth, especially when it's not a career and seemingly has no way of becoming one.

HUGE THANKS to all our listeners, particularly our Patrons, who kept this going for longer than it otherwise would have, to The state51 Conspiracy for their unrelenting commitment to experimental music, and to Soundboy Audio for many years of editing and production work.

Even more thanks to all the artists and labels who create the actual art: you literally make life worthwhile for so many people.

We'll be doing three end of year shows, plus one (FREE) live show. We hope you join us

Good things come to those who wait, like those of us who have waited six years for new Evian Christ material. That being said, good things come to those of us who can’t wait either, and – just six months after their debut masterpiece – the Japanese folklore-French prog collaboration PoiL Ueda have another exceptional, outlandish record for you.

Elsewhere, Iranian poetry electronics, abstract footwork, absolutely stunning Slovak-Hungarian folk, and Mexican Alien House music round us off.

Even by our exacting standards, this episode of the Independent Music Podcast is out of this world. From experimental club music to DIY lofi garage rock, from Jewish folk music to airy baroque jazz, the music on this podcast really pushes the boundaries of classification.

Highlights abound, but whatever the hell Moth C**k are drinking needs posting our way, and the Melt-Banana-esque ferocity of industrial duo Sea Moss is a delightful return. Arcanist – on Nebraskan DIY specialists Moonworshipper is exceptional, whilst the first glimpse of the new record from Faten Kanaan is truly exquisite.

We are going to be in Galway in November doing a live IMP as well as a DJ set!

This will be our third live podcast outside of London and two of them have been in Ireland so we are very appreciative of the support.

Some great bands playing including pod favourite Sarathy Korwar who we will be doing the warm up DJ set for.

Tickets on sale next week.

Idiosyncrasies reign on this week’s Independent Music Podcast as we kick off with the blistering sounds of Barcelona’s Dame Area, and back it up with a rollercoaster of heavy hitting tunes, and extraordinary experimental music, including sitar player Ami Dang's beautiful record on Phantom Limb, and Chile’s Tecnologiá Para Ser Libres blending multiple traditional sounds with contemporary electronics.

Elsewhere we have the new one from S**t & Shine, the latest pounding sounds from the parties of Kampala, hefty rock, chanson, and a lot more.

There’s a heavy antipodean influence on this week’s Independent Music Podcast, with a whole heap of wonderfully varied sounds with their roots in Oceania. From the stunning experimental folk of Maxine Funke, to the beautiful pop of Carla dal Forno, through to ‘horrible metal from YANWYTYA, there’s a broad spectrum of noise.

Elsewhere, Sarathy Korwar’s new record gets us off to a strong start, whilst the intercontinental drones and poetry of Karen & Peter transports us to the dusky landscapes of West Yorkshire and upstate New York. For the patrons we also have underground experimental hip-hop, crazy obtuse pop from Japan’s Hitomi Moriwaki, and more.
