Athens Twilight Criterium is one of the most iconic cycling events in the United States and its impact on the cycling world is undeniable. Athens launched in 1980 with “the Tasmanian Rocket” (Danny Clark) taking the first win.

You may have heard of a race in Europe called “Le Tour de France”? Back in 1986 Davis Phinny smashed a win at Athens in April and became the first American to win a stage at the Tour de France in July.
