TWO IN CUSTODY FOR SELLING AMMUNITION

Kasungu Police Public Relations Office, Joseph Kachikho has confirmed the arrest of two men for being found in possession of 13 ammunitions on November 19, 2023.

According to Kachikho the two are Chifundo Matimo and Mphatso Matimo who both hail from Katakwe village, traditional authority Santhe in Kasungu district.

Kachikho disclosed that, the suspects were arrested following a tip-off by well wishers who stated that the two were offering ammunitions for sell at Katakwe village.

"After investigation from Chigodi Police Unit we managed to arrest the two and recover 13 live ammunitions, investigations are underway to know who exactly acquired these ammunitions", Kachikho said.

Both suspects will appear before court soon to answer their charges.

THE WORLD COMMEMORATES WORLD CHILDRENS DAY

Different countries across the World are today celebrating World Childrens day to celebrate the life and existence of every Child on the planet .

World Children’s Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day and is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare.

November 20th is an important date as it is the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child

This year's theme is, 'For every child, every right. ' One of the rights in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is that everyone should know about children's human rights (article 42).

Celebrating Universal Children’s Day involves activities and initiatives that promote the welfare and rights of children.

Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has slashed Chinsapo MERU filling station with a 30 day suspension for demanding extra money from customers .

In a statement released by MERA today, an investigation conducted showed that fuel attendants at the station demanded an extra K5,000 from customers to buy fuel , a price in conflict with the fixed fuel price by the Authority.

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP ) National Goeverning Commitee Member Ken Msonda says that if Professor Aurthur Peter Mutharika comes open to disclose whether he is contesting or not at the party's convention, the party and it's members will benefit alot.

Msonda was speaking this today in Lilongwe during a press conference he and other DPP Members held.

He further said that ,the beneficiaries will be A.P.M himself,the party officials and the whole party at large as they shall save costs arising from campaigns towards the party's Convention and prepare the party well for the upcoming general elections campaign which he stated that will be very tough than any other campaigns the country has ever experienced.

This has come few days after the party through its President APM had also organized a press conference held at Page house in Mangochi on Friday 16th of November 2023 to address the country's current situation.

MSONDA RECEIVING DEATH THREATS

Democratic Progressive Party(DPP) National Governing Committee(NGC) member Ken Msonda has today revealed that he and his Collegues are receiving death threats from other Senior DPP members.

Msonda made these remarks during a press briefing he and other DPP members organized in Lilongwe to address the current Challenges and hostilities facing the party .

Msonda stated that he and his Collegues are receiving death threats because of not being in support with Peter Mutharika's Presidential Candidacy at the party's Convention but also fighting for a democratic course in the party to allow every member interested to run for Presidency at the Party's convention have a clear an equal and clear path.

He also added that thugs have been hired to kill them for a bounty of 1 million Kwacha .

He concluded by saying that he and his Collegues are not afraid of the death threats being channelled to them because they are brave and fearless, "Can you zoom out faces , do you see a face filled with fear here?", Said Msonda .

This comes barely days after Peter Mutharika and other key DPP members organized a press conference to address issues facing the country.

Other key notable faces at the press briefing Included Party's Director of operations Joe Nyirongo and Party's Director of political affairs Friedrick Billy Malata.

Karonga United has announced that they will be launching a clothing line that supports their team.

The launch event will take place on November 20, 2023, starting at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Riverside Hotel in the city of Lilongwe.

During the event, they will also showcase their current collection of team apparel that Team will be using throughout the 2024 season under their designer Ramsey Simwaka.

Simwaka stated that each piece of clothing will be sold at a price of K30,000.00.

The Malawi Football National team has departed Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for Lilongwe ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter against Tunisia on Tuesday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The team is expected to arrive at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe at 12:40pm and will later have a training session at Bingu National Stadium.

The Flames are coming fresh from a one nil away win to Liberia, a win which has given them much needed morale to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Former Vice President of Liberia Joseph Boakai has been declared winner in the Country's Presidential elections after defeating Former President George Weah with a small margin .

Liberia's Independent Electoral Commission(IEC) has stated that Boakai won with 50.9% of the vote while Weah amassed 49.1% of the votes .

FLAMES STUN LONE STARS

The Malawi Football National team on Friday the 17th November 2023 evening stunned Liberia by a goal to nil to begin their World Cup qualifying campaign in fine style .

The first half of the match ended in a stalemate after both sides failed to capitalize on the chances they created .

In the 78th minute of the second half substitute Chifundo Mphasi struck barely minutes after his introduction.

The 19 year old attacker who is currently playing for Kabwe Warriors in the Zambian top tier received a nice lobed pass from Tatenda M'balaka then pounced on it to give the Flames valuable 3 away points.

The Flames now travel back home ahead of their second qualifiers Match against Tunisia on the 21st of November 2023 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

STAKEHOLDERS SUPPORT EXCITES KANENGO POLICE

Police in Kanengo, Lilongwe, have hailed the support they get from stakeholders saying it is important in enhancing security in the area.

Speaking on Friday, 17 November 2023 during a Kanengo Joint Patrol Initiative meeting, Station Officer for the formation, Assistant Commissioner Mr Davie Chilalire said, since preparatory meetings for this year's festive season patrols started, various companies and organisation's have been coming forward with resources saying police does not take this lightly.

"Mobility is a big challenge for us and while we appreaciate the support you are already giving us, we would appreciate if you also support us in terms of mobility,"he said.

Chairperson for the initiative, James Bamusi, concurred with Chilalire saying the resources various companies and organisations give contribute a lot towards safety and security.

He therefore challenged his colleagues to continue being committed to the cause saying it is for the good of everyone.

TWO IN CUSTODY FOR IMPERSONATION

Police in Mzuzu have arrested two men for allegedly impersonating as police officers and being found with Malawi Police Uniform.

The suspects have been identified as Gift Muyaba, 27 from Bonga Muyaba village, traditional authority Kampingo Sibande in Mzimba and Victor Khonje, 25 who hails from Magaga village, traditional authority Jalavikuwa in Mzimba district.

Reports say that, on November 16, 2023 the two suspects went to a house of a business lady while in Police Uniform saying that they were Officers from Ekwendeni Police Unit investigating illegal businesses.

The woman did not hesitate to report the matter to the police who rushed there and arrested the suspects.

DPP President who is also a former President of the country, Peter Mutharika says, President Chakwera has to man up as Malawi is going through hard times.

Mutharika disclosed this today during a press conference conducted by DPP held at Page house in Mangochi.

Among other important issues, Mutharika also said that Chakwera must make sure that the government increases financial support for this country despite the devaluation of Kwacha.

Mutharika said, the government must reduce fertilizer prices as the country depends much on agriculture which is the main source of income since many Malawians especially those in rural areas can not afford to buy at a price of K120,000 per bag.

In addition to this,the former Reserve Bank governor, Dr.Dalitso Kabambe said that government must avoid excess expenditure as there is a low rate of accessing forex than circulating it within the country.

Kabambe said,for this to work well the president and government officials must reduce foreign travels and public rallies.

FARMERS MAJOR FOREX EARNERS

Former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor Dalitso Kabambe has disclosed that despite Farmers being major forex earners in the country, most of the farmers are struggling due to lack of government commitment to support them.

Kabambe was speaking this during a press conference organized by the Democratic Progressive Party(DPP) at Page House in Mangochi where DPP President Peter Mutharika was addressing the nation on various issues affecting the country.

In his statement Kabambe stated that farmers in the country are the major forex earners given the fact that the country's economy heavily depends on Agricultre, but despite the trend, Kabambe said that Government is continuing infringing these farmers citing the current raise of fertilizer price from K17,000 during DPP reign to K110,000 in this current administration as one of the things infringing farmers.

Kabambe further stated that despite Farmers making such strides to earn forex, the Government is the number one spender and squanderer of the hard earned forex by these local farmers in expenses like importing foreign goods and unnecessary traveling while farmers only spend little of this forex and get affected alot with economic hurdles like devaluation.

He then added that the measures by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to cut down Government expenses and improve the county's economy are not proper solutions to improve the economy,"These measures being implemented are no real address to the current economic struggles", Said Kabambe.

Kabambe concluded by saying that government needs to put in place policies that will help these farmers who are the major forex earners of the country is to recover from these economic struggles .

Other notable faces at the press conference included Party Spokesperson Shadric Namalomba, Bright Nsaka, Francis Mphepo, Mary Navicha, George Chaponda and Chimwemwe Chipungu .
