S+x For Grades: “We are tired of §¥cking d**k,” UNICAL Law Students call out their dean, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, over alleged s+xual hara§§ment

Students of the law department of the University of Calabar have protested against their dean, Prof. Cyril Ndifon.

They accused their dean of s+x¥ally hara§§ing students and thr£at£ning them. Also, they alleged suppression from the institution.

It is reported that Prof. Ndifon was previously removed from his position as Dean of Law over allegations of r+p£ in 2016. Ndifon was on August 29, 2015, accused of s+x¥ally a§§aulting a 20-year-old 400-level student (name withheld) in his faculty after ordering her to his office. Following the development, authorities of UNICAL suspended the dean from office. The suspension was to last until he was completely exonerated from the allegations.

However, according to reports, University of Calabar (UNICAL) reappointed him as the Dean of its law faculty in 2022.

Don’t Release Nnamdi Kanu – Asari Dokubo Tells President Tinubu

Asari Dokubo, a prominent Niger Delta activist, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Dokubo made this request after his meeting with President Tinubu at A*o Rock on Friday.

It should be noted that Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, had called for Kanu's release during his discussion with President Bola Tinubu.

However, Dokubo believes that Kanu should face the legal consequences of his actions, arguing that releasing him would encourage a culture of impunity.

"During the EndSars protests, Nnamdi Kanu was allowed to roam freely. What did he do? He aggravated the situation during the EndSars movement. Now that he has been apprehended, what about the lives lost? He is a criminal who needs to be held accountable under the law," Dokubo stated during a press briefing.

He further expressed concerns that releasing Kanu would not only reward criminal behavior but also condone the brutal murders of innocent people. Dokubo firmly believes that Kanu should be held responsible for the actions and instigations he has been involved in.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) a few minutes ago signed into law, The student loan bill, which provides for interest-free loans to indigent Nigerian students.

The Student Loan Bill officially known as AN ACT TO PROVIDE EASY ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION FOR NIGERIANS THROUGH INTEREST FREE LOANS FROM NIGERIAN EDUCATION BANK ESTABLISHED was Sponsored by Hon. Femi Ghajabiamila.

Criteria to qualify:

1) Students applying for loan under this Act must apply to the Chairman of the Bank through their respective institutions upon satisfaction
of the following conditions: (i) Student must have secured admission into any public Nigerian University,Polytechnic, COE or TVET school.

2) Applicant income or family income must be less than N500,000 per annum;Applicant must provide at least two civil servants as guarantors: of not less than level 12 years in service; or a Lawyer with at least 10 years post-call experience; a Judicial officer; or a Justice of Peace.

3) Students who have defaulted in previous loans; found guilty of exam malpractices, felony, drug offenses will not be considered. Students with parents who have defaulted in respect of previous loans will not be considered.

4) All Applications will be submitted through the Students Affairs Office of each Institution via a list of all qualified applicants from the institution accompanied by a cover letter signed by the Vice Chancellor or Rector or the head of the institution and the student affairs.

5) Any beneficiary of the loan to which this Act refers shall commence repayment two years after completion of the National Youth Service Corps programme.

(Repayment shall be by direct deduction of 10% of the beneficiaries salary at source by the employer).

6) Where the beneficiary is seif employed, he shall remit 10% of his total profit monthly to the Students loan account to be prescribed by the Bank

Meet acting CBN Governor, Folashodun Shonubi

Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi is now the acting Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Shonubi was born on the 7th of March, 1962. He attended the University of Lagos from 1978 to 1983 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Thereafter he obtained a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 with bias in Production Engineering from the same University. From 1988-1989 he shifted grounds to Finance and obtained a Masters’ in Business Administration specializing in Finance. He began his working experience as a Consultant Engineer at Mek-ind Associates and worked from 1984 to 1989. From 1989 to 1990, he was a Marketing Executive at Inlaks Computers Limited.

He moved to Citibank Nigeria Limited as Head, Treasury Operations from 1990 to 1993. He joined Agusto & Co. Ltd as a Supervising Consultant from 1993 to 1996 from where he moved to MBC International Limited as Deputy General Manager, Banking Operations & Information Technology from 1999. In 1999, he joined First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited as Vice-President, Operations & Information Technology and was there till 2002.

In 2003, he moved from FCMB to Ecobank Nigeria Plc as an Executive Director, Operations & Information Technology and in 2007 he became the Director, Information Technology and Corporate Services, Renaissance Securities Nigeria Limited. He was recruited by Union Bank of Nigeria Limited as an Executive Director, Operations, Technology and Services, September 2009 to April 2012.

He became the Managing Director/CEO, Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc from May 2012 to October 2018. October 2018 to date, Mr. Folashodun is the Deputy Governor, Operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) representing the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria on the Board of FIRS since the 9th of December, 2019. He is married with children.
