Good Morning! Happy Friday!

Today is THE DAY!

This morning barricaded started to be removed from Highway 33. The barricades on Highway 33 will be the first to be removed and then they will work on taking the side street barricades down! By this afternoon the Highway and side streets should be fully open for everyone to enjoy!

We would really like to thank everyone for their patience with this project. We would also like to thank everybody for their kind words over the last year as well. We know that it has been a long process but we are so grateful to finally have the road complete and finally be able to share it with everyone. A very be thank you to A-1 Excavating, DOT, Corre and all of the other skilled crews working on this project. With out them and their aggressive schedule we would not be opening today. The City of Baraboo is forever grateful for their hard work and dedication to the Highway 33 Reconstruction Project.

We hope you all have a great weekend!

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday,

With the progress on Highway 33 this week we are looking at Highway 33 being open by the end of the week next week ( October 24th or 25) as long as there are no delays! The beginning of next week will be finishing some concrete work, painting the pavement markings from West Street to Oak Street, and completing the few smaller things that need to be completed yet.

A-1 Excavating has asked again that any one that lives on Highway 33 to please mow your terrace that way the weeds will get knocked down and the grass will have a chance to grow before the snow hits.

Thank you.
Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday!

As most of you have seen we are getting near the end of the reconstruction of Highway 33! This week fine grading and paving of the last section between West St and Oak St was completed. Which means all of Highway 33 has been paved! With that being said a reminder that even though everything is paved it is still closed and it is illegal to use it if you do not have to. These construction zones should not be used for cutting through. The last few weeks there has been a lot of cars coming into the construction zones and not paying attention to the crews that are still working in these areas. Please do not enter these construction zones unless you need to. November 15th is still the estimated date of the reopening of Highway 33. As things are complete that date could possibly change. This is because there is still a lot work yet to be completed. The next few week crews will be working on placing light poles, signs, and restoration work. Along with painting pavement markings on the newly paved section from West St to Oak St and finishing up any things that need to be completed.

The City, the DOT and A-1 Excavating sincerely appreciates everyone’s patience throughout the whole project.

Have a great weekend!

Good Afternoon,

The last few weeks A-1 has been working on finishing the underground work between Park Street and Broadway Street. They finished installing the last of the sanitary and water services for the project. They also installed the last of the storm sewer. A-1 has finished building the roadway between Center Street to West Street and from Oak Street through the Broadway intersection. Crews also worked on pouring the new curb & gutter. In the coming weeks they will be working on placing light pole bases and topsoil in the terrace between Park Street and West Street. They will also be fine grading and prepping the road between Park Street and West Street for upcoming paving.

Also, A-1 has requested that if you live on Highway 33 in a completed section they ask that you please water and mow the terrace. This is to help establish the grass and cut down the weeds. Thank you!

Have a great weekend!

Good Morning,

As Highway 33 opens up today the Draper Street intersection is going to look at lot different from before. Below is an explanation from the Federal Highway Administration explaining how that intersection works.

Good Afternoon,

As we head into tomorrow I wanted to inform everyone that around Noon the segment between Domino's to Park Street will be opening up. This means you will be able to drive on Highway 33 in West Baraboo all the way to Park Street. At Park Street you will have the option to turn left or right. There will be NO Parking on Park Street on either side for one block. This is to help with the traffic flow once school starts.

Highway 33 is still closed to Semi traffic. Semi traffic should be using I90/94 (exit 106) to USH 12 (Lake Delton - Exit 92) to Highway 33 or Highway 33 to County Highway X to County Highway W to State Highway 113 to South Blvd. to State Highway 136.

The City also has a watermain break that is at 9th/Berkley which they will be trying to repair tomorrow. Please be patient with the crew as it will be extremely hot tomorrow and it may take them longer to complete.

Thank you.

Good Afternoon,

A lot of work has been done over the last week or so. The segment between Jefferson St and Elizabeth St had concrete work done along with paving and painting being completed before Monday. Which means that on Monday, August 12th our east side segment between Jefferson St and Elizabeth St will be open in the A.M.
What does this mean?
This means you will be able to come into Baraboo on Highway 33 and go all the way to East Street (County Rd A). At East St you will have a choice to go Left or Right (North or South) at the stoplights. There will be a road closure on the West side of the intersection of East St/Hwy33 similar to how it is now just on the other side.
Why are we doing this?
We have the road barricaded this way so that semis don't get down to Oak St and realize that the road is closed and try to go through the construction area or they will try and turn around on those small tight roads. Especially since it's so close to downtown and there are a lot of parked vehicles on the side of the streets. We want to make sure they can get to where they are going but not in areas we do not want them in. Oak St and Ash St will be open for local traffic only. This will be just like Barker St and Warren St are currently where you will be able to cross Highway 33 in that section.

With that being said on Monday August 12 we will be closing down the rest of Highway 33. Which means from Domino's all the way to Broadway St will be closed. We will still have cross streets that will be open for cross traffic. A reminder that even if our maps have the roads as opened during the day there is always a possibility that it will be blocked with construction equipment. The A1 excavating crews are consistently working up and down the road which sometimes can make it harder to cross at some of the cross streets. They don't try to do this on purpose they're just trying to get as much work done as possible. We just ask that you please add extra time to your commute so that way any inconveniences wont mess with your schedule.

If you need to access the businesses at Highway 33 and Broadway St which includes Community First Bank and the Max F.M. station building that you please use the alley on Birch St and Oak St. The alleyways on Broadway St will have barricades and you will not be able to enter here. Even if you think you can fit through the alley on Broadway Street we please ask you to use the other side of the alley for entrance to the business and homes. There is a lot of heavy machinery and dump trucks that are going to be coming in and out of that area and we want to make sure that everyone stays safe.

Our west side segment between Domino's and Park Street is still expected to open up mid to late August.

Our LAST middle segment from Summit St- Broadway St is expected to be completed in mid November.

Have a great Weekend!

Good Morning,By the end of the business day today Summit St will be reopened and Park St will be closed.Thank you.
