Happy News! The 2nd Phase of Reconstruction is finally complete!

West Baraboo Pavement markings were painted this morning! All of West Baraboo and the side roads Mulberry, Walnut, Connie, Cedar, Willow and Hill are open. On Highway 33 there will be soft close at Hill Street. This is for local Access to Prevail Bank, Westwood Park, Domino's, Jimmy John, AT&T and the homes along this section. There will be a hard closer just east of the Domino's/Jimmy Johns driveway.

As long as there are no delays on Monday, June 24th construction is expected to start in our 3rd phase segment from the eastern limit of Jimmy John’s / Domino’s driveway all the way to West Street. A-1 Excavating will need to go to West Street as this is the lower end of the sanitary sewer. Highway 33 will be completely closed just east of the Domino’s/ Jimmy Johns Driveway through West Street. In the beginning Draper, Summit, and West Streets will be closed. Park, Wood, and Center Streets will be open for cross traffic. Once they get through West Street they will open up from cross traffic and close Wood and Center streets for underground work.

The segment east of Domino's/Jimmy Johns driveway to Park St will be finished before school starts in the fall. The eastern limits of Park St - the eastern limits of Broadway St is still expected to be completed in November.

We would like to Thank you ALL for the patience and understanding as Mother Nature has not always been on our side the last few months. Have a great Weekend!

Good Afternoon,

With the weather forecast showing spotty rain showers the next few days we wanted to give you all a heads up. In West Baraboo we have not been able to paint the strips on the new section of Highway 33. From Today to Sunday there may be a possibility that all the side roads in West Baraboo will get closed down for a short amount of time so they can strip the new road. It all depends on the rain and if they can get a decent amount of time where they are able to paint. We are letting you all know now because when it happens there won't be much of a forewarning. We ask that you please continue to have patience with us as we try to finish this section of Highway 33. Although Highway 33 in West Baraboo is paved the road is still CLOSED and it is illegal to use it if you do not have to. We unfortunately continue to have very close calls with cross traffic and vehicles trying to drive areas of Highway 33 that are not yet open to the public. Please slow down and only use the cross roads that are open.

Thank you.

Good Afternoon,

With tomorrow being our Big Top Parade I wanted to share some important details. There will be two parking lots for anyone that would like to park and be shuttled to Downtown. The first parking lot is Slumberland in West Baraboo and the other is the Circus World Parking lot off of Water Street in Baraboo. If you would like to Park and be Shuttled to Downtown please make sure that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the parade. That way there is plenty of time for you to be shuttled to Downtown before the Parade starts.

The Shuttle Park and Ride Hours
9am – 11:15am & 12:30pm – 2pm

If you or if you are with somebody that is handicapped we do have specific handicap parking. On the map below handicap parking is in Orange. The map below will bring you into our Downtown District and you can choose where to park from there.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/cp4ts4AqzEqLBCJ7A

If you are coming from the east side of Baraboo there are two route that you can take. The first would be our Local Detour Route that is posted on Highway 33. The route will bring you into town on Water Street and from there you can decide where you wold like to park. Or you can come into town on Highway 33 and take Washington Ave South which will run you into Water Street. The map below shows both maps you can just click and choose which one you would like to use.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/jPvUF4MSVLFmpbgNA

If you are coming from the West the best route to take would be to get off Hwy 12 @ Exit 219. Take South BLVD for about 1.5 miles and you will run straight into our Downtown District and from there, you can choose where you would like to park.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/nGyrMfx9wf4YGrTaA

OR

If you decide that you want to park and be shuttled you can take Exit 218. At the stoplights make a right turn and Slumberland will be on your right about a block down.

Our Wonderful Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce has made a website for anyone that would like more information. Here you will find everything about the event. We hope to see everyone there! Rain or Shine.

Good Afternoon,

If all goes well, the section of Hwy 33 from Oak Street to East Street will be open tomorrow morning. There will be a hard closure immediately east of East Street for through traffic but access for the properties between East and Elizabeth is available from both the Warren Street and Barker Street intersections.

The Elizabeth Street crossing will be closed tomorrow and will not reopen until the section from Elizabeth to Jefferson is complete mid to late August.

Good Evening,

Tomorrow morning Gasser is anticipating to be paving the surface of Ash Street. Ash Street will be closed through Wednesday May 29th and Thursday May 30th. At this point I do not know if there will be a crossroad open during the day for cross traffic. It all depends on whether and how much paving they can get through. Please be cautious and know that you may have to drive down to Elizabeth Street to cross Highway 33 or take 9th Street to Birch Street and from there you can choose what route is best for your travels.

We know this may be an inconvenience to many but we appreciate the patient as we push through to complete this section of Highway 33.

Thank you.

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday,

As many of you prepare for a long Memorial weekend I wanted to remind everyone that Highway 33 is still Closed and it is illegal to use it if you do not have to. The side roads that will be open for cross traffic this weekend will be Ash St and Elizabeth St along with Hill St and Willow St in West Baraboo. Mulberry St in West Baraboo will remain open for the right hand turn to the stoplights for safer travels. Connie and Cedar St will be closed for the weekend in West Baraboo. Oak, East, Warren, Barker, Camp, Wheeler and Tuttle Street will remain closed for the weekend as well. Work will resume Tuesday, May 28th.

We are excited that the our east side segment from Jefferson St to Lincoln Ave has been reopened before Memorial weekend. For that we would like to thank all the crew members that have been working tirelessly on the Highway 33 Reconstruction Project.

Have a great and safe weekend!

10/05/2024

Good Evening,

This week in our three construction segments concrete and flat work continued along with grading in our West segment of West Baraboo. For the upcoming weeks, sidestreet closures will happen more frequently as we are getting ready for asphalt. Next Monday 5/13/24, Tuesday 5/14/24, and Wednesday 5/15/24 Jefferson St and Washington Ave will be closed for paving. No one will be able to enter these areas.

A reminder that Highway 33 is CLOSED and it is illegal to use it if you do not have to. No one should be driving through the construction zones unless you live or work on these streets. Also with the busy weekend ahead please remember to slow down, have patience, and make sure you are making full stops at the stop signs at Highway 33 and the sidestreets.

Thank you.

10/05/2024

Good Afternoon,

As many of you know this weekend is the Fair on the Square and with the reconstruction in full swing we know it might be hard to get to our Downtown District. I wanted to share the best routes to downtown. I will also include maps to help everyone navigate the area as road signs can sometimes be tricky to read.

If you are coming from the West the best route to take would be to get off Hwy 12 @ Exit 219. Take South BLVD for about 1.5 miles and you will run straight into our beautiful downtown district and from there, you can choose where you would like to park.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/KM87n1j4FVpjcjnB6

If you are coming from the East the best route would be to take Taft Ave also known as County T to 10th St. You will follow 10th St to East St. At East St you will make a left and follow that to 4th St. A right on 4th St and you will enter our beautiful downtown district and from there, you can choose where you would like to park.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/n3w4cvMgGGhsHU789

We would like to thank everyone for their continuous kindness and patience as we navigate through the reconstruction with our many upcoming events!

Have a great weekend!
Thank you.

Good Afternoon!

Tomorrow Morning 5/9/24 between (6am-7am) East St will be closed for grading and Oak St will be open for cross traffic. By the end of the day tomorrow (6 pm-7 pm) East St will be reopened and Oak St will be closed.

A quick reminder that Highway 33 is closed and it is illegal to use it if you do not have to. I know that in some areas it looks like you can go around the barriers however no one should be driving through these construction segments unless you live or are working in these areas. If you are headed to the Red Shed between Washington Ave and Lincoln Ave please slow down and be cautious of the workers in that area. Also, stop signs are NOT an option. Everyone should be stopping at the crossroads of Highway 33. There continues to be close calls with cross traffic and the workers in these three segments. We understand that everyone needs to get somewhere however we ask that you add extra time to your travels to make it safer for everyone.
We again thank everyone for their patience and kindness.

Thank you

03/05/2024

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday,

This week curb and gutter was laid in the east and middle segments along with flat work that was completed. On the west segment in West Baraboo they continue to grade and prep for new sidewalk in anticipation for concrete work next week.

As many of you know there has been backups and accidents at Berkeley Blvd and W Pine St (old 12) in West Baraboo. For safer travels Mulberry St off of Berkeley Blvd in West Baraboo has been temporarily opened up to a RIGHT TURN ONLY LANE heading west to the stoplights. Also in the south bound lane coming into town on West Pine St (old 12) there is now a caution display board warning everyone to slow down to 30mph before they get to the Berkeley Blvd intersection to help prevent any further accidents. I know there was a lot of questions and concerns about adding traffic signals and stop signs however that is not a possibility in that intersection. We caution everyone that is heading to that intersection trying to turn left to please take the stoplights for safer travels.

A reminder that Highway 33 is CLOSED and it is illegal to use it if you do not have to. No one should be driving through the construction zone unless you live or work on those streets. This week we continued to have many close calls with the cross traffic on Highway 33. It is important to remember that you have to stop at the crossroads of Highway 33 even if you do not see a stop sign. There will be workers in all three of these segments until the time that they are completely finished. For everyone's safety please slow down, make sure you are making complete stops before you cross Highway 33, and give patients to all the crews working in and along side these three segments.

Thank you.
Have a great weekend!

26/04/2024

Good Afternoon,

Mulberry St off of Berkley BLVD in West Baraboo has been opened up to a RIGHT TURN ONLY lane onto HWY 33 Heading West to the Stoplights for safer travels. This will be temporary for a few weeks. This is for RIGHT TURN ONLY. Please DO NOT try to Cross HWY 33 at Mulberry St even if you think you can cross as the other side Will be used for the dump trucks coming in and out of the construction area. If you need to cross please cross at the crossroads that are open. We cannot stress this enough for everyone's safety.

On the map the Yellow has changed to RIGHT TURN ONLY.

Please remember HWY 33 is closed, and it is illegal to use it if you don’t have to. There will be workers in all three of the areas until the time that the segments are completely finished. We already had a couple of close calls this week. Traffic on the side streets should also be stopping at HWY 33 at every intersection even if there is no stop sign. Please slow down and be patient with the workers and trucks coming and going from these areas.

Thank you

Good Evening,

In recent months Highway 33 has had extensive upgrades which include the replacement of water mains, storm sewers, and sanitary sewer lines. They will continue to finish any storm sewer work and grading the roadway in prep for curb and gutter.

This week in the East side segment curb and gutter work will begin. (Jefferson St - Lincoln Ave.) When the curb and gutter begins there will be low/no access to driveways to allow drying time. If you need to get to a business or residence you will have to park on a side street. Before they start in your area A1 will notify you.

Thank You

It is VERY important that if you are trying to cross Highway 33 you DO NOT cut through parking lots of businesses or housing. I can't stress this enough! It is very dangerous for residents and or businesses. If you are unsure or can't find your way please look at our live map and it will tell you which roads are OPEN.
