We just uploaded our newest show to the KBOO website. This one is called "7 Decades". At The KingTursi Music Hour we play songs that have been recorded from 1960 up to the current day. That's a huge seven decade sandbox of music for us to play in. 1960's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000's. 10's, and 20's. For this show, each of us play one song from each of those decades...our choice. Joe chose to play songs from the most influential acts of each decade...from the Beatles to Taylor Swift. Scott chose to play album tracks (non-singles) from acts which up to this point we'd never played on our show...from The 13th Floor Elevators to Black Pumas.

Here it is...our newest and 75th show..."God". This show features songs referencing God or a god. This is not a show about any particular religion or even religous content. Song themes range from positive and negative references of God, to gun violence, to drug abuse and more. We've got artists as famous as John Lennon and Van Morrison and as obscure as HoneyWhat and RPWL. We hope you enjoy it.

Coming later this month...GOD! Okay...calm down...nothing supernatural will be happening on the show...just more good music. This will NOT be a show about any particular religon. We are going to play songs that have some reference to God or a god. Something like "God Save The Queen" by The S*x Pistols. Look for it soon, listen, and see what we've done.

We just uploaded our newest show..."Keyboards" to the KBOO website. This show features songs where the sound of keyboards are prominent. You'll hear lots of piano and organ...but we've also got accordion. The music ranges from The Doors and Supertramp to Nick Cave and Joe Jackson. Enjoy.

Whats next? KEYBOARDS...coming in March. We will play songs where the sounds of keyboards are "prominent" in some form. It might be from a piano, or organ, or harpsichord, or mellotron, or synthesizer, or something else. There are lots of talented keyboard artists out there, famous or not. Maybe you'll hear some of your favorites. Look for this new show in a few weeks.

We just uploaded our newest show to the KBOO website. This show presents songs from some of the most well known (and not so well known) female vocal groups. We've got The Supremes, The Shangri-La's, & The Shirelles as well as The Fabulettes, Stooshe, and The What Four....plus so much more. If your looking for female bands such as The Runaways, The Bangles, or Sleater-Kinney you'll not find them here. That may be a different and future show.

Coming in February...Oregon's 165th Birthday, AND our newest show..."Female Vocal Groups"! No bands, just vocal groups. You'll hear some of the classic groups from the 60's for sure, but we'll also play music from groups in subsequent decades including the 2010's and maybe the 2020's.

To start off 2024 we will play music under the theme..."Cities". We'll play songs about cities generically (such as "Summer In The City"), or specifically (such as "London Calling"). Our new show for December is here! "Standards". This show features songs that have long established popularity and have been performed by a wide varierty of musicians, often with unique arrangements and in different genres. You'll hear songs originally written in the 1920's, '30's, '40's, '50's and 60's but performed more recently. From "Over The Rainbow" and "Ol' Man River" to "Moon River" and "My Way" we've got an entire show of great songs. We know you'll enjoy the music in this show.

Coming in December...our new show, "Standards". What's a Standard you ask? It's a song that has long established popularity and has been performed by a wide varierty of musicians, often with unique arrangements and in different genres. Songs like "Over The Rainbow" from the 1930's to "Mack The Knife" in the 1960's. All songs played on this show will not be the original recording of the song, but something done later.

While we don't tell each other in advance the songs we're picking for the show, we have discussed how much fun we're having pulling songs together for this show. This should be a good one.

Here it is...Show #70! Despite the graphic below, this show is called "In Depth With Stevie Wonder and Boz Scaggs" For the first half of this show, Joe focuses in on Stevie Wonder and the most acclaimed 10 year period (1971 and 1980) of his career. In Part 2 of this show, Scott focuses in on the career of Boz Scaggs, from his beginnings with the Steve Miller Band in 1968 all the way to his most recent album in 2018. Lots of really good music here...please enjoy.

Here it is...our newest, and 69th show. "The Joe Show" presents 14 songs all selected by Joe. All songs were written/recorded no earlier than 2020...so all newer music here. The first part of the show focuses on Soul, mostly in the tradition of classic soul from years ago. The second part of the show is all about new Progressive Rock. Give it a listen...we bet you're gonna find some music that you'll love and didn't think anyone made anymore.

Coming in October...The Joe Show! It's Joe's turn to have a show all to himself...to play whatever he wants. Joe promises to play all newer music, i.e. nothing recorded before 2020. Probably mostly by newer contemporary artists. Rock? Soul? Blues? Who knows. You'll have to give it a listen to find out.

Our newest show is called, "First Came Dylan, Then Came___?" features artists and/or songs that in our opinion are similar in manner to Bob Dylan. The co-hosts ended up approaching this theme somewhat differently, hence there is more musical diveristy here than you might think. There are NO Dylan covers in this show.

Our newest show coming in August is called, "First Came Dylan, Then Came___?" We will feature artists that in our opinion write songs in a manner similar to Bob Dylan. Since Bob has been at it for over 60 years and 40 albums, he's done a lot of different types of things, so expect some variety in this show. We will NOT play any Dylan covers.

There is no particular theme for this show. I present three categories of songs on this show. For our new show coming in July, we're doing something new for us...a show where all of the songs are selected by just one of your co-hosts. "The Scott Show" will present 15 songs selected by me (Scott) that in some form I've been itching to play. I'll have three categories of songs.

First there are songs or artists I've discovered while doing research for the show that I've been waiting to play.

Next there are songs I almost played on an earlier show but didn't because...well...time constraints mean you can't play them all.

Finally, there are songs or artists I've liked from before our show existed that I've been hoping to play sometime, and now I have the opportunity.

For this show Joe will just get to respond to what I play. Because he's never shy with his opinions, I'm sure he'll provide plenty of entertainment with his takes. He'll get his chance for "The Joe Show" later.

We just uploaded our 65th and newest show to the KBOO website. This show is our Father's Day Special. Joe and Scott bring in their son's Joseph and David as well as Joe's son-in-law Michael to play songs with some Father's Day meaning to each. We have artists ranging from Dean Martin, to Creedence Clearwater Revival, to Oceans of Slumber. The Rock, Soul, Metal, Jazz, Pop, Reggae, and Alternative genre's are all represented here. We hope you like it.

This show is notable because we play our 1,000th song over the life of the King Tursi Music Hour. Thanks again to KBOO for the opportunity.

We've got artists ranging from the most famous (Johnny Cash, Beach Boys) to the definition of obscure (Sjax, The Day Fish Band). Buckle you seat belts and go for a ride.

Our next show...coming later in April (hopefully*) is called "Cars". Hear songs written about cars and/or driving. There have been so many through the years going back to at least the 1930's. Remember Maybelline by Chuck Berry in 1955? Or, more recently "Drivers License" by Olivia Rodrigo in 2021? Once again you'll hear songs that are familiar to you and others that you'll likely hear for the first time. Remember to buckle up.

*We had some technical issues with our recording gear last month and we have to get those resolved before we record again.

We've got artists such as Graham Nash, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, and Jack White...plus more. You'll hear two songs from a different act for each artist. We hope you like it.

Coming later in March...The Midas Touch. We'll play songs by artists that have been involved in at least three highly successful acts or musical ventures. For each artist we'll play two songs; one each from two of their acts.

One example of an artist that meets our criteria this month could be Paul McCartney who was successful (understatement) with the Beatles, Wings, and a lengthy solo career. So...no unknown artists for March on the King Tursi Music Hour. You may however, hear songs that you haven't heard before.

We just uploaded our newest show (Social Commentary) to the KBOO website. This show showcases a wide array of societal observations made by various song writers. Some of the subjects covered include immigration polcy, consumerism, human rights in Iraq, and religion.
