Blondie - D Good Day [Family, 1985]
This LP has been on heavy rotation here since I picked it up a month or two ago; three of the four tracks are fairly straight ahead afro boogie jams (top quality ones, don't get me wrong) but this is the one that I find myself playing again and again. Just a little bit more space and swing in the drums, and that DX7 bassline is most definitely large and in charge . Can't really go wrong with this one I reckon, check it out and see if you agree!

Thierry Martin - La Batterie De L'Espace [Disques TM, 1982]
I'm very much of the opinion that when it comes to digging for records there are certain unwritten rules which you should always try and follow - for example the B2 is almost always the most interesting track on the record, any house record that has either an Ambient Version or mentions rainforests will be incredible, or any sleeve where the person that did the lead singer's hair stylist is credited will be funky all day. To that list I would like to add the following - any record that is called Space Drums (or La Batterie De L'Espace en Francais) is a solid gold must check. Which brings us neatly to this obscure 7" from mysterious Canadian child star (?) Thierry Martin - the A side is dire but on the flip you have this incredibly deep jazz funk odyssey of a track with a fat, squelching bassline, tripped out electronic fx and a wild drum solo that takes up over a third of the total run time. Here's a one minute taster for your consideration but if I was you I'd head over to my YouTube channel via the LinkTree up top where I've posted the full track - it's a trip and a half.
Thanks to @holygraildj of the very excellent @diggersclubrecords for the assist!

Rosko - Peace Maker [Disc'Az, 1973]
Nice 7" today from Rosko aka 60s US radio announcer and DJ William Roscoe Mercer; it's basically a deep jazz funk cover of 'Also Sprach Zarathustra' by mysterious French outfit the Prophetic Band with spoken word vocals from Rosko about nuclear weapons (I think). Sounds odd but works perfectly - check it out...
