BTW: The only person that can make Biden drop out is Biden, and he has already made clear that he does not plan to. After the primary elections were held, where Biden won 80+% of the vote against alternative options like Congressman Dean Phillips and RFK Jr., strengthens the campaign’s resolve that Biden remaining the nominee respects the wishes of the voters.

And maybe Biden should remain the nominee. There are no polls that show any other Democrat definitively winning over Trump consistently, and nothing comes to suggest any other Democrat could beat him in a landslide. For the campaign, that’s not enough confidence to go through the process of starting anew with a new candidate.

The fundamental challenge in any election is name recognition, and no Democrat has near ubiquitous name recognition like Biden after his 8 years as VP and 3.5 years as president. Especially true when going up against another former president with near ubiquitous name recognition. Remember, the campaign’s primary goal is not to convert voters from pro-Trump to pro-Biden, but to get voters in their own party to turnout. They likely believe they can’t risk low information voters not coming out to vote because they don’t recognize their candidate’s name.
