Monday, June 3, the Pamlico County Commissioners will meet at the County Court House at 7 p.m.--there is a $500,000 to $1,000,000 decrease in budget to Pamlico County Schools on the table. The PCS superintendent is encouraging county residents to attend the meeting.

Today at 7 p.m.: Our Democracy is at Risk
Local attorneys will explain why there is a threat to Democracy and the impact
the upcoming election might have on Democracy.
They will discuss how the Rule of Law and the Constitution should function in a
Democracy and how it has been and might be violated.
Questions and audience participation will be encouraged.
This event will be held at the Pamlico County Heritage Center in Grantsboro on
May 30, 2024 at 7:00 PM.
An invitation is extended to all voters.
This event is sponsored by Pamlico Partners for Democracy.

PCHS Theater Arts class is rehearsing their upcoming play, "Don't Rock the Boat," a comedy set on a cruise ship manned by an ambitious, young captain and his cruise director who has her hands full. With an inexperienced crew, a deck full of zany passengers, no insurance, and no money, this cruise isn't exactly ship-shape! Come for the fun, laughs, and even a live, musical review on the deck!
Showtimes are Wednesday & Thursday, May 22 & 23 at 7:00 pm in A.H. Hatsell Auditorium, Pamlico Co. High School. General Admission is by donation (any amount helps support PCHS's Theater Arts program).

Buy a $5 raffle ticket and support local nonprofits!!
In celebration of Orientals 125th anniversary Down in the County is raffling off a dragon basket to help support Pamlico County nonprofits.
Tickets are $5 each and the drawing will be held on the anniversary date of March 4 2024. 50% of the funds will go to one of 3 groups. The nonprofit groups that you have a choice of supporting are 1) YNTO - Youth Navigating Towards Opportunity Inc., 2)Pamlico County Public Library building fund or 3)PAMLICO ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY (PAWS).
The basket will be viewable in Oriental during the Oriental 125th anniversary festival March 1 and 2.
Other merchandise we be at the festival for purchase.
If interested in purchasing a ticket for the basket online you may Venmo or donate $5 through our donate button.
