As temperatures rise and heat warnings become more frequent, it’s crucial to stay prepared to ensure your safety and comfort both on the road and at home. Here are essential tips to keep your vehicle and home ready and avoid any heat-related nightmares.
1. Keep Your Gas Tank Full:
- Always maintain a full tank of gas. Gas stations can be overwhelmed or even lose power during extreme weather conditions, making it difficult to refuel when you need it most.
- A full tank can keep your car’s air conditioning running, providing much-needed relief during unexpected delays or emergencies.
2. Charge Your Electric Vehicle (EV):
- Regularly charge your EV and avoid letting the battery drop below 50%, especially during heat warnings. Power outages are more common during high demand periods.
- Consider investing in a home battery backup system to ensure you can charge your EV even during blackouts.

Public safety is a crucial concern for any community, including Escondido. Balancing the needs of the homeless population with ensuring public safety is a complex challenge.
