This summer I had the privilege of getting my portrait taken at the Penumbra Foundation using 1800’s photography technology. It reminds me how far photography has come, yet how simple and unchanged portraiture is.

The final result is a wildly unique 5x7 tintype.

Adapting to circumstances is a big part of being a photographer. I’ve been so lucky to have great weather this fall, and when it wasn’t, I was lucky to have an alternative. We’re now in the homeward stretch of the Fall. So proud of all the schools for rocking picture day under COVID.

How happy is this guy to be working today? Very. This begins my 20th school year as a school photographer. When I started I had long curly hair and big hopes. The hair is gone but the hope never fades. I’m so thankful for the support from my schools and families through all the crazy times. I hope we get “normal” picture day back soon.
