Jeff Dunn, known to the world as Mantas of Venom, is a musical legend whose influence spans across the metal genre, and beyond. His innovative approach has brought us some of the most memorable riffs in metal music, often conceived in moments of everyday simplicity, including a famously inspired session in less than glamorous circumstances.

Aside from his groundbreaking contributions to music, Jeff is a devoted caretaker to his 27 cats, whom he treats with royal regard, and a friend to many. His generosity and integrity shine through in all his interactions.

Recently, Jeff's life took an unexpected turn when he suffered a heart attack on the morning of April 17. Despite this frightening event, the swift response from medical professionals at Abrantes UCIC and later in Lisbon ensured he received the necessary care promptly. An angiogram revealed issues with two valves, leading to the immediate placement of two stents. Jeff is now recuperating at home, but his road to recovery will be long, and he will be unable to perform live for the foreseeable future.

This campaign aims to support his medical expenses and recovery process. We reach out to all who have been touched by Jeff's music, his story, and his spirit, to help in any way possible. Every donation, no matter the size, will significantly aid Jeff's journey back to health.

Dear Friends,

In the February of 2023 I’m gonna release the final, basically post-mortem Skol Records title - ORPHAN ALLIES "Running From The Law". I wanted to use this opportunity and thank all of you for your support, and for giving me strength to continue through the years, through ups and downs. Skol Records released 70 CD albums and 28 CD singles - not bad. You can only imagine, how incredibly honored and happy I was to deal with, and then announce releases of such an outstanding bands as S.A. SLAYER, TYGERS OF PAN TANG, SATAN’S HOST, MEDIEVAL STEEL, MILITIA, BLOODLUST, MALTEZE, SABBAT, SOLAR EAGLE or TITAN FORCE... To work on reissues and new albums of NWOBHM cult acts such as DESOLATION ANGELS, MYTHRA, QUARTZ, AFTER DARK, CHASER or ROBESPIERRE… To do the official tribute albums, dedicated to legendary acts such as EXCITER, DIAMOND HEAD, RIOT or ANVIL… Except that, Skol Records gave kickstart to some amazing new bands, such as SAVAGE MASTER or SABIRE. So yes, I like to believe this legacy will live on.

I’m writing in first person, as while there were some amazing people around me helping with graphic designs or distribution, it was all my decisions (obviously not always right ones), my vision, and my blood and sweat. And believe it or not, the real driving force behind of all this was the passion, the desire to share great music with the people, and to immortalize some great recordings. It’s not an easy decision, but due to several reasons, it is time to take a bow.

Skol Records Bandcamp page will be kept alive so you can still stream and download some of our releases, but there will be no more new releases. So thank you all once again: bands, artists, distributors, friends and supporters, it was a great adventure, for which I am grateful. Whenever you can, please support other great labels that specialize in reissues, like No Remorse Records, High Roller Records, Lost Realm Records, or Cult Metal Classics, and make sure that HEAVY METAL WILL NEVER DIE.

MALTEZE "Count Your Blessings" deluxe CD reissue - out now today!

Legendary US heavy metal powerhouse MALTEZE, led by the charistmatic singer Barbara Malteze, inked a deal with Skol Records, and will release special deluxe edition of their highly acclaimed album, "Count Your Blessings". The original audio material from 1990 got new mastering treatment by Bart Gabriel (CIRITH UNGOL, SAVAGE GRACE, MEDIEVAL STEEL), and the reissue will include 6 bonus tracks, taken from the MALTEZE debut mini-LP "We Came 2 Rock", which was originally released in 1987, and was out of print ever since.

"Count Your Blessings" was originally released in 1990 on Gold Records in North America, and on Active Records in Europe, and a limited edition vinyl reissue came out in 2005. The Skol Records version is the first official CD reissue since 1990.

It's the first time a bunch of DIAMOND HEAD songs have been covered for an album apart from METALLICA obvs. My favourite is AMBUSH's version of "Canterbury". It's an awesome modern version and a great new arrangement. The singer does it proud. It's so good it makes we want to revive the song for the current DIAMOND HEAD shows as we have not played this live since 1984! I also really like the new versions of "The Prince", "It's Electric", "Streets Of Gold" and "Sweet & Innocent". It's a real success for me, I am very surprised and flattered, for some reason I wasn't expecting this kind of quality" comments DIAMOND HEAD guitarist and founder, Brian Tatler.

The album has been produced and mastered by Bart Gabriel, who except working with acts such as SATAN, CIRITH UNGOL or AVENGER, previously produced RIOT, EXCITER and ANVIL tribute albums. Cover artwork of the album has been painted by Mario Lopez, Guatemalan artist who previously worked with acts such as CRYSTAL VIPER, EVIL INVADERS and TOXIK. "It was truly an interesting project, and it was super exciting to put this album together. Sure, many metal fans immediatelly think of METALLICA when you mention DIAMOND HEAD, but there's so much more out there! They have an amazing back catalog, and they're without a doubt one of the most important bands when it comes to classic heavy metal, and metal in general" says Bart Gabriel. "I'm also very happy that the album was officially blessed by Brian Tatler and his crew – he's one of my favorite heavy metal guitarists, his riffs are absolutely stellar. That's why the witch from "Am I Evil?" which you can see on the cover of the album (and who was inspired by the Hammer Films icon, Ingrid Pitt!), is holding Brian's iconic Flying V guitar!" he adds.

Skol Records is proud to present "Baptized In Hell", compilation album of the Los Angeles Speed/Thrash Metal underground heroes LAST RITES. The release includes two complete demos: "Don't Be Denied" from 1990 and "Agony" from 1991, restored from the original master tapes, and mastered by Bart Gabriel (SAVAGE GRACE, MEDIEVAL STEEL, HEXX).

The band was active in the early '90s, and featured former members of BLOODLUST. "Baptized In Hell" will be released on CD & digitally on June 10, and the vinyl version of the album will be released later this year on Lost Realm Records.

Desolation Angels signs with Skol Records, new studio album "Burning Black" out this Summer

New Wave Of British Heavy Metal Legends DESOLATION ANGELS signed a deal with Skol Records. The new studio album entitled "Burning Black" will be released this Summer, and will be firstly available as CD and Digital Download - details of the limited edition vinyl version will be revealed at a later date.

Cover artwork of the album has been painted by Guatemalan artist Mario Lopez, known from cooperation with such bands as CRYSTAL VIPER, EVIL INVADERS or MEDIEVAL STEEL. "Burning Black" will include 10 new songs.

DESOLATION ANGELS released their legendary same titled debut album in 1986, although actually debuted few years earlier, with demo tapes released in 1981 and 1982, and a 7" single "Valhalla c/w Boadicea" released in 1984.
