Few still frames from another music video project. Second time collaborating with the talented and always a good time getting to play with more colors and light programming. Also a new genre of music video that I’ve worked on that was much more “Metal”, which has a lot more energy and movement. So capturing that energy on camera all of the sudden feels like it becomes almost a dance and a part of the performance. So much fun! Music video is out on YouTube now, go check it out!

Solar Eclipse 2024

Last one to cross the U.S. until the next predicted ones in 2044 and 2045. I’ve been fortunate enough to see a few within the last decade and they never disappoint. Astronomy is cool!

Usually I like more of the dramatic flares and colors for the eclipses I’ve shot in the past, but this time was particularly interesting seeing solar flares right off the edges of the eclipse peeking out and while subtle, I think in some ways is still even more dramatic and awesome. I shot 2 different options with the time I had just in case though 😂

Texas Blind Salamander

Rare and endangered, it’s one of the cave critters we had the pleasure of meeting that can only be found in the fresh and cool waters from underground in specific areas. They face imminent threats from water pollution and the destruction of habitat as a result of growing cities. Preserving their homes and sources of water will keep these super cool animals around for years to come!

Couple of screen grabs from some video work while doing a bit of cave exploring. It’s days like these where kills it with their low light cameras for me. When a spontaneous opportunity to go into a wild cave that’s still being explored to this day presents itself, it’s times like these that I’m happy to have the versatility of Sony’s a7SIII and similar line of cameras. The lowlight capabilities continue to amaze me in environments where sometimes your only light source may be a headlamp in what otherwise is a pitch black environment. Not to mention the option of a very compact camera design is extremely helpful as well. Continually glad to have the part of my kit options for adventurous jobs!

Chasing some fun colors and lighting.

Couple frame grabs from a recent project. Finding nice lighting is always awesome, but I also like to find ways to make it even better. While having the talented .kaitlyn.dunn in silhouette with colors is nice, I actually did have a soft light source placed behind the frame left column to provide a bit of depth and dimension. Not only that, but it created a nice eye light. I’m fascinated with the subtleties of lighting 💡💡💡

Grandstaff Canyon

Had fun out in Moab recently. Didn’t anticipate the moon coming out that night while shooting, which drastically changes the way the shots look, but still creates an interesting look. Almost a standard day look, but with the starry sky-scape. In short, long exposures are fun!
