Sa ginanap na Youth Leadership Excellence Award (YLEA) ng Junior Chamber International (JCI) sa SM San Pedro noong ika-15 ng Hunyo, pinarangalan ang 80 na mga estudyante mula sa iba't-ibang paaralan sa lungsod ng San Pedro.

Samantala, labing-isang mag-aaral dito ay mula sa ating paaralan, San Pedro Relocation Center National High School (SPRCNHS). Sila ay kinilala sa kanilang husay at galing bilang "outstanding leaders". Kabilang sa mga kinilala at binigyan ng medalya at sertipiko ang ating Punong Patnugot na si Desiree Faith Roxas na nagsilbing manunulat ng editoryal ng pamahayagan sa loob ng anim na taon at dalawang taon bilang Punong Patnugot.

Gayunpaman, pinarangalan din ang tagawasto at tagasipi ng balita natin na si Ron Kennaniah Cunanan na inirepresenta ang The Voice. Pagbati, ate Desiree at good luck sa susunod mong karera! Pagbati, kuya Ron! Pagbati, Sprakenhayners!

Idinaos ang Regional Press Conference (RSPC) 2024 noong ika-27 ng Pebrero hanggang ika-2 ng Marso sa pangunguna ng Laguna cluster na buong husay na nilabanan ng mga mamamahayag mula sa Ang Ugat.

Naunang sumabak sa laban ang indibidwal na kategorya sa Cabuyao Integrated High School na sinundan naman ng group categories na isinagawa sa Calamba, Laguna.

Ginanap ang paggawad ng parangal noong ika-1 ng Marso, 2024 sa Calamba, Laguna para sa diyaryo at noong ika-2 naman para sa pang-indibidwal at pang-pangkatang kategorya sa Our Lady of Fatima University Laguna branch.

Samantala, nagkamit ng pang-pitong karangalan si John Cris Rabino na ibinigay ang buong puso sa pagguhit ng kartung editoryal.

Nagbigay naman ng mensahe ang isa sa mga School Paper Adviser (SPA) ng Ang Ugat na si Ginang Myra Alarcon sa kanilang mga student journalist bilang paghikayat at pagpapagaan ng loob ng mga ito.

“Chill mga students, kapag may natapos n[a] kabanata ng aklat ng inyong buhay dapat may panibagong pahina kayong muling bubuksan patungo sa mas exciting na bahagi, huwag isahang yugto lang… dapat mas mahaba pa sa series ng HARRY POTTER, STAR WARS, STAR TREK, FRINGE, LOST at SUPER NATURAL,” saad nito, at sinabing, “nagsisimula palang kayo... nasa bahagi palang kayo ng SAGLIT NA KASIGLAHAN.”
