This morning I had the privilege of leading the funeral of Harry (Hank) Bloem (my uncle from my wife's side of the family), who passed away at the age of 93. His wife aunt Ada passed away last year. They were blessed with 66 years of a close marriage and invested a great deal in the children. As one of the children put in, "they always work together as a team." Uncle Hank was extremely loving and outgoing - loving Christ above all and his neighbour as himself by God's grace. Another son put it this way I never met a stranger he was always reaching out to people and helping them. He always stress doing things as, Jesus said, "for the least of these," being motivated by the fact that we are really doing it for Christ. He had his spiritual struggles at times with assurance of faith but came to rest with assured faith in Christ alone. Hence I preach on Philippians 1:21, "for me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Please remember his eight children (including three in-laws), 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and other relatives and loved ones in prayer.
