The PERSUADED Project is a one-year exploration of change to examine, experiment and figure out the actions that are shaping the political, social and business world. The PERSUADED Project wants to understand how change is made to help build tools for people to increase their impact. How change is made is changing
PERSUADED was launched in order to understand how the new internet-based change sec
tor is shaping the world – and the growth has been amazing: Avaaz, an online activist group has over 45 million members; Change.org a petition site has over 20,000 new petitions added to its site each month. Every day millions of people are taking petitions and creating change. We wanted to know which are working, which actions are most effective and is there a way of determining the factors of success? So we devised The PERSUADED Project to investigate. A Year of Experiments and Exploration
During the year of change, the team at PERSUADED will do a number of experiments to see the different ways actions are making an impact. The first experiment is the PERSUADED Challenge- for one year Kel, who heads up our team, will take and rate a petition each day and the team will track the action to see if it leads to. We will be interviewing change makers and delving deeper into major change organisations to understand their strategies. We will also examine feedback from the decision makers that receive these petitions for change. Along the way, the team at PERSUADED, Kel, Jessica, volunteer Dani and Moose the office dog, will build the largest database of organisations and actions for change as a resource for people wanting to make a difference in the world. We will use the database to track which petitions are most popular, which issues are getting traction with the public and which organisations are achieving the most success. Finally, we will be providing tools for people to help them shape their change and increase the impact of their actions.
