If you own a business, you have two options when it comes to your social media – you can do it yourself or you can find someone else to do it for you.

Notice how there's no "not do it at all" option. That's because if you're not investing in your social media marketing, your business is losing money every single day.

We all want better for ourselves, our families and our businesses. Sometimes it's only a tiny action that needs to be taken to make progress. But action needs to be taken nevertheless. Start today, thank yourself tomorrow.

There are more ways to make content stand out than through high production. In fact, with the direction that marketing is heading right now, it might actually be more beneficial to tone down on production value.

Social media is important for your business for a number of reasons:

☞ It helps increase business’ exposure. If you are present on the social media channels relevant for your business, you automatically increase your chances of being noticed by a potential buyer. If you post quality content and are consistent with it, you will eventually build a community of loyal customers and brand advocates.

☞ It helps keep your business on top of people’s minds. When your post pops up in someone’s timeline, even if they scroll right past it and do not engage, given you have clearly displayed your logo and/or brand name, your business, even if subconsciously, will stay in that person’s mind. So now if they pass your shop or see your logo elsewhere, they will most likely be like “Hey, I know these guys! Let me go check them out.”

☞ It helps humanise the business. People buy from people and not businesses. Turning your brand into a “human” is both more enjoyable and effective when it comes to building relationships online. It creates a much more friendly and trustworthy environment, where errors are not criticised as harshly and good times are celebrated more genuinely. Just like with real human relationships.

☞ It helps generate leads and boost sales. Due to all the reasons mentioned in this post but also because social media makes it easier and with less commitment to enquire about a product or service, fill out the form, book a consultation call or rsvp. It also allows to get more familiar with the brand or product right on the spot, through looking at the About section, previous posts, and, most importantly, customer reviews.

☞ Speaking of customer reviews, it helps manage your business reputation more quickly and effectively. A client asked me once whether there was a way to delete a negative review from their page. To which I explained that that could be detrimental to their reputation and that there was a much better way to deal with negative feedback, even if unwarranted. It is important to respond to all comments and messages, but it is so crucial to address the negative public comments. A response that is polite and quick, demonstrates that the issue is understood and the measures are being taken to resolve it, can turn a curious bypasser into a follower into a buyer into a loyal customer. Criticism (given it is not too frequent) can be used to demonstrate to your audience that you handle your business in a mature, honest, fair, and transparent manner.

Ever heard of Pratfall Effect?

It's a psychological phenomenon, which states that highly competent people are found more likeable when they make a mistake. It works under two conditions – the person (or entity) has proven to be competent in the past, and the mistake made is not severe or ill-intentioned in nature. A day-to-day example of that would be spilling coffee or making an innocent typo in an email.

Wonder what that has got to do with marketing? Read today's blog post. Here's the shortcut 👉🏻 https://bit.ly/2THxkhN

Posting mindlessly is not going to do much for you if you're trying to grow your page = business through social media. I say it a lot - quality matters when it comes to every single social media post. But just as important is its distribution. Here's one quick tip on how to optimise your posts' reach:

⚠️⚠️ Find out when your audience is most active on each social media platform and post during those times ⚠️⚠️

For Instagram, you can find those times under the Insights, as shown in the video. Facebook has its own Insights, as well as majority other platforms.

To help you post on time use the scheduling tools such as Later Buffer Hootsuite or any other tool you like. I have a post talking about a number of scheduling tools and looking at the differences, so check it out. 👀

Note: every page has its unique audience and therefore insights. The activity times showed in this video are correct for our page only. Please make sure to check your own, as they will be more effective for your page's performance.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, comment or DM.

If you own a business and someone comes to you and tells you that they know a place where all of your customers hang out, would you not be interested in finding out where that magical location is? Would you not be there first thing in the morning, wearing your best outfit, carrying your shiny business cards, trying to connect with as many of your potential customers as possible, even if you do not necessarily get a chance to sell any of your products on the spot to everyone?
I will make that guess and say yes you would. Well, social media is that place. Not only does today's largest social media platform hosts 49% of the world’s population, but it is also equipped with powerful tools, which allow you to filter through its users and find your ideal customer based on their demographics, interests, preferences and more. It also has tools that allow you to reach those people at no-to-little cost.

But that is not all.

Hashtags are used to categorise and group content on social media. They originated on Twitter in 2007 but since have expanded into other platforms and became a powerful tool for growing social media presence. If used strategically, hashtags can help grow page's reach, engagement, as well as following. There are 3 types of hashtags:

• Community hashtags. These hashtags help reach a specific community. Think location or an interest. E.g.
• Branded hashtags. Your business specific hashtags, which your customers can use to connect with you or share their experience. Think specific product or line. E.g.
• Campaign hashtags. Hashtags developed for events, special offers, promotions or contests. Great for exposure and for getting the word out through your audience.

Here are some hashtag tips:

• Use smaller and more niche hashtags. is a great hashtag, but it has over half a billion uses on Instagram, which you don't want to compete with, if you are an SME. If you are in the beauty industry, (374m posts) might be an obvious pick, but you might also consider narrowing it down to, for example, (4.6m posts) or even (95k posts) to increase the chances of your posts being noticed.
• Research the hashtags that your audience, competitors and industry leaders use and either use the same ones or narrow them down even further.
• Follow hashtags relevant to your business. This way the posts created with these hashtags will appear directly in your timeline and so you can easily like or leave or comment, which might make the person who created it curious to see what you do and even become a follower / customer.
• Use hashtags in stories. Not many people know this, but you can also place up to 10 hashtags in your stories, which work the same way as the ones used in posts.

I hope these tips help. Let me know if you have any questions.

The idea behind content marketing is simple. Instead of sharing random information or having a constant stream of promotional material online, it is much more effective to first learn what information your audience is already looking for and then create that content to match their interest. Doing it this way does a few things. First it helps people discover your content organically, but it also helps you transform your content into something that people come back for and wait for in anticipation instead of regarding it as sales’y, pushy or, well, a spam.

In today's blog post, we take a closer look at Content Marketing and at what makes content good. Check it out 👉🏻 https://bit.ly/2xk6JQ9

In my work I put a massive emphasis on the visuals. Makes sense since I work with branding and social media marketing, where one of my main tasks is to make my clients' brand / content jump out in a constant stream of social media posts. I've been obsessing over IG grids recently and started experimenting with building seamless (my own initial IG grid , even though I recently started experimenting with it some more), checkerboard and other creative grid layouts. I will create a post talking about them in a bit more detail soon and also covering why this is something to consider for your own brand, if you are a business owner. But for now I thought I'd start sharing some of the templates I create.

This one is the most recent checkerboard grid I built for a home decor (retail) client.

Initially I wasn't going to post on weekends, but then I realised it would be a perfect time to share something not necessarily marketing related but general thoughts, inspirations, etc. I'm not a big fan of quotes, but there are some really good ones that are not too superficial and also hit close to home 🙈😂
I think it won't hurt to share them occasionally on this page. Feel free to share the ones that you like.

As business owners when we think about our marketing and sales our goal is to find a strategy which will deliver the highest possible ROI. This means we want high customer value at the lowest possible cost for acquisition. Of course the latter will depend on a number of factors, such as the industry, size of business, target audience, budget and more. The good news is that one does not need expensive TV ads and billboards to successfully grow their business. In fact, as recent research shows, the opposite might actually be a more beneficial approach.

20/04/2020

To put it very simply, algorithm is a piece of code, which determines the level of exposure of each piece of content released on social media. For those of us trying to promote our businesses on social media, it's crucial to understand how algorithm works and how to play by its rules.

Engagement. Here's how it works. You post an image, the algorithm rolls it out to say 10% of your followers. Someone comments, it's rolled out to further 10%. Someone comments again, further 10% and so on. So naturally you want to start a conversation in your comment section. Here's the thing though, because it involves machine learning, the algorithm now recognises phrases such as "Comment below" or "Tag a friend", if used excessively, as an "Engagement Bait". Instead, encourage your audience to partake in a discussion by asking questions.

Shareability. Share is the most valuable engagement metric but it's the hardest one to achieve. Even if you don't want to post memes or give-aways on your page all the time, there is a way to create content, which people will want to share with their network. Educational content works well, for example.

Hashtags. They're what puts your content in front of the people outside of your group of followers, which is essential for growth. A good general rule is to use 10+ hashtags (max 25-30) and avoid using only highly competitive hashtags, such as where you'd be competing with 251M other posts 🙈

Posting times. You can find those in your Insights. The rule is simple - don't post when your audience is offline and do post when your audience is online. Also this is where the social media scheduling tools come in handy (see my previous post).

Experiment. At the end of the day no account is the same and one-size-fits-all approach should be avoided. However you can find what works best for you by trying different things, monitoring the results and re-adjusting your strategy as you go.

💡Are you happy with your posts' exposure/engagement?

Meet the founder of the influencer marketing platform Fohr 👋 We asked him to share his insights and data on how COVID-19 is affecting the influencer marketing industry, and most importantly, how to build a *strategy* while the future of the industry is rapidly changing.⚡

There's no doubt that COVID-19 has made a strong impact on influencer marketing: campaigns are being paused and influencers are reducing rates. But on the flip side, engagement on sponsored content is increasing as Instagram usage has increased by over 40%. 💸

With all of these changes, there's still one thing we know for sure: With screen time increasing, so is the standard of content. 👈 Striking the correct tone in your visuals and captions is now absolutely vital. From showcasing sensitivity to surroundings (like relatable WFH struggles) to providing value that builds community and connection - approach and authenticity matters more than ever.

Head over to the blog to find loads of data (and examples of creators doing this right) to understand how the influencer marketing industry is pivoting to a new normal. 👀

The 5 tools covered here are not listed in any particular order, they're not necessarily the best in the market either. They're just the ones that I got a chance to test myself and the ones that I suggest you try out if you need help with better planning and scheduling of your social media content.

1 - Buffer. This is probably the simplest, most straight-forward tool on the market. Definitely the tool I would recommend to someone who's new to scheduling. It supports all the major platforms and offers a free version.

2 - Later. This is more of a visual app, which allows you to see your IG grid as you're scheduling the posts. It also lets you schedule IG stories. You can simply drop your media to an in-built calendar to schedule your posts - easy! They have a Media Library too, where you can store your images and videos for future use. It offers a generous free version.

3 - Tailwind. Another visual app, as it allows you to see your IG grid, as you're building it. I also love this tool because it gives me hashtag suggestions as I'm writing a caption and even shows how popular a.k.a competitive each hashtag is. It only supports Pinterest & Instagram though and has a 15-day free trial.

4 - Crowdfire. Its Content Curation feature generates post ideas for you based on your interests. It also allows for bulk post uploads via csv. The app supports all the standard platforms + Tik Tok! You can also connect your own website to post directly from there. Has a free version.

5 - Hootsuite. I'm still testing this one, but immediately 2 things jump out with this tool: (1) its Streams feature which allows you to combine multiple platforms on a single page and (2) ability to use Facebook's "Boost" feature directly from the app. Even though hidden, it has a free version.

Hope this helps. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions, or if you use another tool, I'd love to hear about it!
