𝗧𝗢𝗞𝗨𝗔 𝗔𝗜𝗥𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗔𝗩𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗙𝟭𝟬𝟬 / 𝗙𝟳𝟬 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 – 𝟯𝟬𝗧𝗛 𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

The runway pavement repair works at Tokua Airport has been completed satisfactorily on the 28th of July 2024.

Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation, Hon. Walter D Schnaubelt, said the maintenance works comprising of pavement repairs and asphalt overlay on the runway and taxiway, commenced on the 27th of February 2024 and has taken approximately 5 months to complete.

The National Airports Corporation (NAC) intends to have the full runway length of 1720m available for Fokker 100 and Fokker 70 aircraft operations to resume on the 30th July 2024, upon final inspection and commissioning of the completed works by CASA PNG’s AGA Inspectorate.

As Minister responsible, I commend the NAC for its dedication in delivering this critical project. This pavement repair work is a testament to the Government’s commitment to improving air travel connectivity and safety within Papua New Guinea.

I also extend sincere appreciation to all key stakeholders including the Contractor (Hebou Construction Limited), the East New Britain Provincial Government and people, the traveling public, airline operators and many others for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the five-month construction period.

Repeating the history and reviving the Rugby League back to Queens Park Rabaul after being abandoned due to twin volcanic eruption in 1994.

Visiting Lae Snap Tiger up against home base Barike boys Might Rabaul Agmark Gurias.

The full-time scoreline was 14 draw.

Quite a historical moment witnessed with the history and reflections of glory days of Rabaul before rhe eruption. Present at the occasion were ENBP governor Hon Michael Marum former Gurias and a few Kumul players and other sponsors.
