At just 15 years old, Jose was a vulnerable teenager seeking love and acceptance—something he didn’t feel at home. Like so many others, he turned to the internet for companionship. There, he met a man much older than him, who offered comfort, understanding, and validation. What started as friendship turned into manipulation and sexual exploitation. This man didn’t have Jose’s best interests in mind—he had control.

Jose’s story is not unique. Thousands of children and teens are exploited online every day, lured by predators who prey on their insecurities and vulnerabilities. The internet can be a dangerous place for kids, filled with people who want to harm them. But Jose’s story also shows the power of resilience and hope.
