At the previous county commission meeting, the commission approved 5 year leases for their brand new Caterpillar equipment to the tune of almost $1 million bucks.

They could get really nice used equipment at a fraction of the cost of these leases, and the county would actually own the equipment to where they're assets instead of a form of debt and burden on the citizens.

We want people on the commission who have the maturity and experience to manage our tax dollars responsibly and where we will see our tax dollars being put back into our county for us. Vote Tom Brunner & Sue Broadhurst.

Investigators who searched the car of Sioux Falls man charged with murder for allegedly running down chief deputy during police chase found suspected THC vapes and MA*****NA paraphernalia. Outside the car they found an apparent b**g and an unopened bottle of liquor.

South Dakota prosecutors charged a Sioux Falls man on Monday with first-degree murder and aggravated eluding in the death of a deputy who was struck while putting out spikes during a police chase. SD: if we don't stop and change direction NOW, we're headed towards the exact same fate as Oregon because they started where we are now. Let's give ourselves a second chance to make this right before we end up with the headache and heartache that Oregon is dealing with. Let's get rid of ma*****na all together in 2024.

While the pro-ma*****na people are freaking out over this proposed bill, Travis Ismay hasn't paid ONE petition circulator and is doing just fine. It goes to show that if people are truly passionate about an issue, they'll get the work done necessary for it, paid or not.

Yesterday, Representatives Perry, Krohmer, Moore, and Pinnow and Senators Beal, Mehlhaff, and Novstrup introduced House Bill 1114. If passed, it would prohibit the use of paid petition circulators to collect signatures for a statewide ballot measure.

House Bill 1114 is a clear attack on South Dakota’s ballot initiative process – a process that gives South Dakotans power to make change in our state. Currently, ballot initiatives in South Dakota make it on the ballot by a combination of volunteer circulators and paid circulators – but, they are heavily reliant on paid circulators. House Bill 1114 aims to prohibit the use of paid circulators to collect signatures for a state-wide ballot initiative. If House Bill 1114 passes, it would be nearly impossible for any future initiative to qualify for the ballot and South Dakota’s ballot initiative process could cease to exist.

This bill is not scheduled for a hearing yet, but it is never too early to make noise and let our voices be heard. Legislators are trying to take our power away and we can not let them. Learn how to email and call your State Representatives and State Senator by visiting sdbml.org/takeaction2024. Urge them to vote NO on HB 1114.
