What if…

Watching Season 2 of “What If…” right now and I’m only a few episodes in right now, so no spoilers in future episodes, but going through it is awesome! I want to say I just finished episode 3 with Tony and Gamora explanation and background detail. I won’t go into too much detail, but it was really cool to see them tie in the first season with the second season a little bit. I can say that I am a little disappointed with how they didn’t really explain how they went back a little bit or my my memory isn’t the best.

Nonetheless, this is a series I thoroughly enjoy this far and episode two made me CRACK up! It was super funny! Looking forward to making it through the rest of the season.

With the New Year started, I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year once again, and hope you all have made resolutions that are a tad bit more realistic than the past just due to the craziness that has been the early 2020’s. This year, you can expect more movement and potential growth from this account, more than ever, and we are shooting for the stars!! Please, if you haven’t already, share the page, like and comment on the posts, and let’s grow this page together as a new community! I have plenty of plans for this account and am very excited to see where it goes in comparison to what I am trying to do!

What do you think of the new season of “What If…” so far? What is your favorite episode? What is your favorite scene?

Throwbacks…

So I got the urge to watch some stuff that I watched when I was a kid, the Bionicle film series. Going through some stuff and thoughts, I was trying to understand what the timeline was. For anyone that has watched the movies too, you know the confusion I am talking about.

After doing the proper research, aka Reddit, and I found out that the proper orientation of these movies. It is as follows:
Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui
Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows
Bionicle: Mask of Light

There is some confusion on my end of where Web of Shadows kind of fits into everything, considering that they are saving the young ones after they defeat the Makuta and then save the young ones all over again and then free the Makuta, it’s a little confusing.

There is some debate about the 2009 Legends movie but these three are for sure the same characters and are connected for sure. Most of the movies are what inspired me to buy the toys growing up and, based on recent information, this is what saved Lego in the 2000’s as this was before Star Wars Lego sets.

What was some of the characters you had? How far back/early on did you start collecting these toys? Which ones are your favorites?

Happy New Year!

Hope you all had a great weekend and a happy holiday season! This year we have some new stuff planned for some expansion of the brand of Morning Purge! We have some plans of podcasting, more interactions with people, marketing, and possibly merch by the end of the year - just in time for Christmas!

This whole page started out as an idea for a business opportunity, but had so much going on in terms of the baby, new job, getting ready to move, and working on other avenue of an income stream for the family! We are working on setting up an Amazon arbitrage business, and expansion on the Knisley Entertainment side of things - including becoming a legal entity, rather than just a blog page - and much more in forms of entertainment.

I hope you all have a great time with growing with this page and with this family as well! Thanks for all the support and sticking with it to see where we go from here!

Back to the grind…

Welp… Christmas has come and gone. The three day weekend is over and now it’s back to work. Something that the 12 week leave showed me is that I like to sleep haha.

No but in all seriousness, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, you got what you asked for, and you spent the time with Family.

Crazy moment of realization…

I have a 7 Month old!! The last 7 months had be really shown me how the little things aren’t always super important and something to worry about. My little boy has shown me what the new world of parenthood has to offer.

There is obviously a distinct difference with animals vs humans, but I had such a reality check when he started moving around. I was explaining to the wife, looking at him now has me believe that we have a little human being rather than just a baby. Looking back on the photos for the last few months make me not only feel old but proud to say I have a son. I love him with all my heart!

What core moments of raising kids do you guys have?

What a damn morning…

I’ve been dropping things all morning, smashing my finger on every possible surface, and I’ve been sneezing up a storm because I can’t get something out of my nose. What a damn morning! And my first call this morning is 45 minutes away. And of course I got all of this Attempted to get done before even having coffee…

How is your morning going?

Nope…

Swimming with sharks. Spelunking. Climbing the Empire State Building. Changing out a lightbulb… of a radio tower. These are some absolute “nope” moments and opportunities that I look at and think “never in a million years!”

I have a fear of pain and suffering (I know sounds pretty wimpy) which means that I would rather die than survive something and go through all the pain of healing and recovery. Example: if I skydived, and my chute didn’t open, I would rather die than land in a field and break every bone in my body but survive. This is what I mean by pain and suffering.

What are things that you will never do, no matter how much reward is given (I.e. money, fame, friends, etc.)?

Coffee is a godsend…

Waking up this early again after three months of sleeping in and not doing anything makes me love how much coffee is such an an amazing thing. Being able to work and function properly makes me happy when coffee is around.

I prefer a medium to dark roast with a splash of creamer. Doesn’t really matter which flavor, it just breaks up the bitterness of the black coffee.

What do you do with your coffee? How do you like it?

There are a few that I would choose, however, if I could watch any movie for the first time again, it would be Avenger: Infinity War. The introduction of MCU superheroes to other MCU superheroes have the ultimate team up against the Mad Titan,is a masterpiece. This movie gave off a ton of “edge of your seat” vibes, and seeing some of our favorite heroes come back to us was awesome! My favorite part was when Captain America showing up in the shadows, looking all scraggly as he was, as he was running from the government. The Russo Brothers did a fantastic job once again.

What movie would you want to watch again? All the emotions are a part of it too?

Ride Alongs…

Doing ride alongs can be fun. Depending on the career path, it can be exhilarating or it can be meh.

I was doing a ride along with one of my co-workers this last week. I learned a lot about how the company runs and how they want me to approach the customer. Nothing has changed really from going from my last company to this one is ways of communication to customers, but there is a new program that I need to get familiar with anyway.

What is the most important part of a ride along in your eyes?

Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny

This movie is based off of the mathematician from the ancient world Archimedes. There is a fabled item/invention that Archimedes had created known as the Antikythera. This device was rumored to have the ability to predict fishers in time in order to time travel. The concept of the plot for this film is very interesting and even though time travel is very fantasy like, somehow, they made it work for an Indiana Jones film. With the exception of the time travel, it had a very reminiscent, Indy film style, that the last one had Been missing.

The Antikythera is real and has been put in a museum. It is not as big as depicted in the film, and there’s only one piece rather than having it split in two and it is more of a calendar type item that has been assumed by scholars. The device is supposedly able to predict the assembly of the solar system. It is able to read the location of every planet in our solar system.

All in all, this is a pretty decent movie. I’d give this a 7 1/2 out of 10. I did go into it with the anticipation of some negative points, and having the idea of an archaeologist daughter, Indiana Jones’s goddaughter, not being into History or historical evidence, but just want to sell everything that she finds, it was kind of letdown as well. I think everyone did great, and with Harrison Ford being in his 80s I feel like he did pretty damn good. Having Mads Mickelson show up was also a awesome twist that I did not see. I am still a little upset with how he survived and they didn’t, explain. There was one wrap in time that was pretty cool and it was lit verified how he got it but it’s just a temporal loop in time. For those of you that watch marvel, it would make more sense. It’s like a destiny ha ha.

It’s that time of year. The whole household is sick. Have to prepare and do what you need to in order to feel better and not make others sick.

Especially with Christmas right around the corner, it’s gonna be hard, trying to avoid the cold or any other seasonal illness. The wife has it, the roommate has it, and even my son has it. It’s one of those things where you just have to pay attention to what you do so then you can properly take care of it afterwards. For example, every time you, cough or sneeze, wash your hands. If you touch door, k**b, or light switch, disinfect it with , disinfectant spray or wipes. Do your best to keep the house clean and aerated. Turn the heat on, for about an hour, then turn it off and open windows and doors to the best of your ability. You can air out your home.

If you have a central HVAC system, with duct and vents, reach out to your local HVAC company and see if they can put in what’s known as a air scrubber. Essentially, it will use non-ozone UV rays to latch onto dirt molecules, bacteria, molecules, virus molecules, and go, even as far as surface, Covid molecules, and weigh them down enough to wear. They won’t be floating around in the air. You will notice for about a week that your house will be a little dustier and dirtier than normal , but that is 100% acceptable. Just make sure that you vacuum it up and dust. After that, every time you walk into the house, it will feel as if it is a breath of fresh air.

There’s also known as electronic air, cleaners, or air zappers, depending on what generation you are a part of, that essentially will zap all of the dust dirt and debris coming through your return vent to your furnace on top of filter out the air as well. It gets the job done in filtering the air in your house. If you have mini splits , the air scrubbers are available, but just look a little different.

Do your best to keep up with household cleaning, and making sure that everything is sanitized and in good condition. Especially if you’ve got loved ones who are asthmatic or immunocompromised. And now that Covid is a thing, it doesn’t help.

Video games…

I want to put it out there that there have been studies that show kids who play video games can be more creative and have more logical thinking, depending on the games. You have Minecraft, which is essentially an architecture simulator mixed with engineering and adventure/exploring, and is a super fun game. I don’t feel like anyone complains about Mario or Link when it comes to “rotting the brain” type of mentalities. Most people refer to the run and gun Call of Duty types and then generalize and say all video games. It’s 6am and I just woke up so I can’t really think what benefits COD has but I’m sure it’s not just making people violent, which is also not backed by any data.

Video games have such a negative connotation and are connected with children when I know plenty of people that would be considered “better than me” I. Certain aspects of life, that play video games and are incredibly intelligent and respectful people. So if there is anyone that tells you that you are childish or not a real man/woman for playing them, ignore them. They more than likely waste their time starring at a tv watching something that probably doesn’t benefit their life either. It’s just preferences to be fair.

What is your go to title? What platform do you play on?

Christmas…

Christmas is only a couple of weeks away, if that, and it’s starting to feel like it. The weather is getting colder, the tree has more and more gifts underneath it, and the stores are getting more and more festive with the holiday spirit.

Christmas is a time for family to come together and spend time together. It’s also time for new traditions to start with new families. The wife and I are going to be trying something new this year, now that we have the little one. Not quite sure yet but we will know soon enough.

What are some Christmas traditions your family celebrates?

Las Vegas

Viva Las Vegas! Vegas is such an interesting place. It definitely meets some expectations but also is a little underwhelming. You have this thought that Vegasnis this super exciting place with stuff always happening and you constantly have stuff to do. There is some truth to that but it’s like the city you live in, normal stuff happens and only the purists find it entertaining. Don’t get me wrong, when me and the wife went for our honeymoon, we definitely had fun and it was my first time there.

At the end of the day, if you are going to gamble, set a budget and do not exceed that budget. Drink responsibly and take Ubers or Lyfts. Don’t fall into the traps of timeshares by people offering you free stuff. Afterwards you will realize that it is not worth it. And go see a show every once in a while. One where you can sit back, relax, and just watch.

What are the go-to things you do in Vegas?

Journeys…

A lot of people say life is about what you can get out of it and what the results are from all of your hard work. Now, there might be some truth to that, that is all life is about.

Life is about all the adventures you have and who you have them with. The best people to have them with are those that you love and those that you don’t know. Having an experience with those that you love is pretty straight forward. Sharing that experience with your best friend, your wife or husband, your siblings, or even your children is what makes the trip worth it. In my personal experience, and opinion, there is also something about witnessing an event with a total stranger for the first time together is also important and needed from time to time. It might be as small as a grocery store shopping trip, to a distillery tour, to traveling the globe with them. Either way, creating a bond with a stranger turned new friend is a very rewarding experience and I am super grateful for new friends.

They say that the results are what you should forward to. Again, there is truth to that. But what you should enjoy while you are at it, is the journey.

What did you do that was very memorable and the journey was more important than the end?

Hallmark movies…

I am not the biggest fan of all the movies that have the same plot, storyline, and actors (in most cases). However, there are some times where I don’t mind one. From time to time, watching one isn’t that bad of an idea. Everyone needs their fill of cheesy movies.

It seems like Christmas is the biggest topic for Hallmark, as it is most of their movie timeframes. So much so to where there is now a “Christmas in July” and is most of the topics that is predictable with these films. Now I’m not going to say that it isn’t heartwarming or emotionally tugging, but still predictable.

What are some of your Hallmark favorites? What stories make you giddy?

Elephants…

Elephants are a massive creature that a lot of people love. My wife included. They are such emotionally, consistent animals that do nothing but love and bring joy. Of course, one of the most common facts of elephants are that they remember everything. Another fact is that they are the second most emotionally capable mammal on the planet, behind a humans. There’s so much emotion that they express. It’s very fascinating. There are many different types of elephants, which you can easily see the next time you go to the zoo, but there are multiple species from Africa and Asia as the two predominant locations. Of course they expand west of what you would think of Asia into India, and they’re all over the continent of Africa.

What is your favorite animal? What are some interesting facts that you know that most people don’t?

Let’s talk about Sir Francis Drake…

First off, yes he was a real person. He was a British explorer who circumnavigated the world in the 1580s. He was also a feared sailor by the Spanish. He was even called a pirate by them because of how much damage he did to their fleets, looting and taking from them. He was also a widely known slave trader during those times.

For the gamers out there that are seeing this, yes he is also a main topic in a very popular game franchise, one of my favorites, Uncharted. In the game, the main characters - Nathan and Sam - are convinced that they are descendants of this British Pirate and are on a search for his collection of treasure in the first installment of the series. Well, I did a little research and found out that the games use real people and myths to create their storylines. I tried finding any similarities between the story or plot in the game, versus what happened in real life, and I couldn’t find anything without needing to dig a lot deeper.

Games like uncharted and people like Sir Francis Drake, make me super interested in historical events that could potentially have secrets or treasures tied to said events.

What are some historical events that were used for fictional stories that interest you and make you want to dive deeper and learn more about?

Last day…

Well, today mark’s a new start. Yesterday was my last day of my leave and I went into the office this morning to find out that I had been let go. We kind of saw this coming and we aren’t too surprised by it, but it’s still bittersweet. luckily, I was paid out for the last two weeks and my vacation, so we aren’t gonna be struggling too bad. I also talk to my new boss and he said that I could start next Monday. So at this point, I am technically unemployed, but I feel good about it. I still have to do a couple last-minute things for the new job and in order for me to start on Monday, but we are turning a new page to a new chapter in our life.

What are some moments that made you feel bittersweet?

Moving out…

We are currently prepping our minds for moving out, which includes the finances portion. Let me tell you, there is a lot of headaches that come with moving. We are trying to work around moving with holiday expenses. Along with the end of year/beginning of year changes as well. Plus with me getting the new job, it could be a difficult adjustment for us. I know we have this in the bag no problem but the wife is the one that worries and stresses out. She likes to go over the numbers to make sure that everything is planned out to the T but then when something happens that is unexpected, she goes into a frenzy. It’s actually kind of comical to watch.

What are some of your least favorite things about moving? What are the first things you guys do just to get out of the way?

Lazy day with the son…

today I have the little man all day and I am planning on doing pretty much nothing except hanging out, showing him love and watching TV or playing video games. He recently had his six month check up which included some shots and vaccines which tuckered him out hard-core on Tuesday. It also made him super fussy too. Yesterday, if he wasn’t sleeping or eating, he was crying. He’s also teething really hard and we feel like he’s gonna cut a tooth soon, which is great, developmental wise, but not so great as his parents because that means he’s growing up.

Right now we are currently watching friends, in memory of Matthew Perry, and getting him to try to develop my sense of humor ha ha.

For those of you that are parents, what are some of your fondest memories of your children at the six month mark? And for those that have taken care of kids in general, what are your favorite things to do with little ones that are under the age of one year old?

Christmas time!

It’s that time of year! Thanksgiving turkey has been eaten, and the stores have moved on from Halloween. Because they don’t really see Thanksgiving as a commercialized holiday. I just wanna come to decorations and home decor.

Christmas time is probably my favorite time of year. Not because of all the gifts and the giftgiving, but because it is colder outside and the decorations for your tree, the potential snow, depending on where you’re at, and just all around spending time with family. This time of years also the most time that you get off from work . I am finishing out my paternity leave this week, but you still have from Thanksgiving to the end of the year multiple days that most people take off or are given off because of the holidays. If you work for a school district, they typically give you the whole week of Christmas and New Year’s off, and if the snow is affecting your job, you have some snow days. This is going to be my son’s first Christmas and I am super excited.

What is some of your favorite Christmas memories? What are some of your favorite Christmas traditions?

The little man is 6 months now! How crazy is it that is has it been 6 months already?!

I was telling the wife that I feel like we have been at the doctor’s office more in the last 6 months than we have in the last 6 years. He is already eating solids, chatting a little bit more, and starting to get the sitting up thing down.

What are some memories that you have about your kids at the 6 month mark?

Hymnals…

These are best described as older song like statements that are made during our worship service. Is there predominantly used in the Catholic Church but there are some protestant churches that still utilize them. I am of the Lutheran denomination and the church. I went to still uses them.

Hymnals are great if you are a more traditional service type of Christian. There are these hymns that are used during specific and seasonal worship services as well. A lot of time you’ll come across hymns being used during lent services or possibly even during Christmas services.

If you go to a church that utilizes hymns, what is your favorite one? What denomination are you?

Let’s add another show to the list of shows that our son watches. Today we are watching some space adventures of Mickey and his crew. There is even a Martian Mickey, a Pluto from Pluto, and a space pirate Pete! It’s a cute show and we have good times watching it with the little one.

Friends…

I have started to rewatch the whole series of Friends again ever since the recent passing of Matthew Perry. I quickly found out that there was a “in memory of” piece in the beginning of every season. Another revelation that I have come across, is the fact that now that I’m a little bit older, and I have a son, the show is a little bit more relatable.

The part of the series that is more relatable, is when Ross has his son, Ben. I honestly think that’s the only thing that’s pretty relatable, considering the fact that I didn’t grow up and start my adult life in the 90s and early 2000s, or have a big group of friends, like they did, that always hung out at a coffee shop. However, the whole new father thing is definitely something that is resonating with me on a personal level. Having Ross ask his dad what his personal experience was when Ross was first coming into the world, hit home for me on a different level. I did ask my dad what it was like, but I just felt like I wasn’t getting in genuine reaction period. Either that, or my expectations for the answer were different than how to actually played out. Nonetheless, definitely feel for Ross on a one on one level with him in the early stages of fatherhood, as I am still there. The other scenes when Ben is older, I clearly won’t understand or what, not until my son gets older.

What is your favorite episode or season of the show?

Movie review: Superman Red Son

We sit back and relax for another day to watch another DC animated movie outside of the DCAMU. This movie is essentially a “what if” type of film and brings in the concept of Superman crash landing in Soviet Russia instead of Kansas.

Throughout this movie, you’re seeing the American side versus the Soviet side, which includes having Superman as a weapon, in a way, to combat democracy and capitalism. Superman finds out that Joseph Stalin, who is his adoptive father, has been doing the atrocities that he has historically done and finds it very horrible and decides to take matters into his own hands. In this film, he comes at communism, dictatorship, and socialism at an interestingly positive angle. The concept of what the USSR stood for, we all know as negative and did not actually help anybody from a capitalistic standpoint. There are probably gonna be people out there that say for whatever reason that communism and socialism is a good thing, but that’s just not true. History has proven that. But, after watching this film, seeing how Superman really wanted the world to be a peaceful, and United entity, is not necessarily a bad thing. Superman was mostly successful at getting rid of wars and troubling times, as he was seen as a threat, or an intimidating factor in potential consequences. The attitude that people had towards him seemed very reminiscent of the ones people had of him in the “Injustice” film that I talked about yesterday. The only difference is, Batman is a Russian domestic terrorist, who is fighting against Superman. And even though Wonder Woman is not Russian, she still is on the side of Superman for a majority of the film, as his actions and his intentions are noble in her eyes.

At the end of the film, Superman ends of sacrificing himself to get rid of something that Braniac had created. He, of course, survives and dresses up as a reporter for a newspaper in the United States. We saw a few surprising re-integrations of what we have already known. Instead of the alien crash landing in front of Hal Jordan, or Green Lantern, the US government found the ship and the alien and with the help of Luther, and Hal Jordan, created a new branch of military, synthesizing the power of the lantern ring, and creating the lantern core specifically for the United States. On top of Braniac being involved in all of this, it was an interesting twist with the Justice League characters that we have come to know and love.

I definitely recommend this movie, as it is, like I said, one of those “what if” type of films and brings a whole new angle to what’s going on.

What did you think of the film? Would you like to see more of these types of films from Warner Bros.?
