Portable Beats Charles Okocha In Celebrity Boxing Bout
Nigerian street-pop artist Habeeb Badmus, aka Portable emerged the winner of the celebrity boxing fight against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha.
The fight, which was sanctioned by Heritage Boxing Entertainment, held at Landmark Beach in Victoria Island, Lagos State, kicked off past 1 a.m. and lasted for about 40 minutes on Wednesday.
The pair had finally settled their scores with their fists after Portable alleged contractual issues, which led them to engage in an online feud over an alleged N40 million rip-off.
Portable claimed Okocha cheated him out of the money, only sending him a small amount, contrary to a contractual agreement.

Christmas celebrations have been cancelled in Bethlehem, the West Bank town where Christians believe Jesus was born.
This comes as British charity workers renewed calls on UK ministers to follow Australia and issue temporary visas to children and their families fleeing the war.
“I return to the UK not suggesting that we cancel Christmas, but that we take urgent action in the spirit of Christmas, extending compassion to those suffering before it is too late,” said Dr Krish Kandiah, of the Sanctuary Foundation, who visited both Bethlehem and nearby Jerusalem this week on a fact-finding mission.
“If our government were to start by providing a significant number of humanitarian temporary medical evacuation visas to children and their families, a few lives will be saved from the horrors of war.”
Bethlehem’s Manger Square, which normally sees a 20ft fir tree erected above an illuminated nativity scene, stands empty, locals say, in solidarity with people enduring the conflict just 46 miles away in the Gaza strip. Instead, Dr Munther Isaac, a Palestinian pastor at Bethlehem’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, created a manger scene depicting baby Jesus surrounded by rubble and concrete.
“We did this for ourselves to emphasise that Jesus is in Solidarity with those who suffered,” he told Dr Kandiah.
“Jesus is with us in our pain, when we're victims of marginalisation and injustice. This is Christmas to us. And I hope that you think of the true meaning of Christmas as you celebrate in your own ways in the UK.”
He added: “For there is a genocide taking place in our land. We're broken. We're praying every day for this to end. We're heartbroken by images of children being pulled from under the rubble on a daily basis. So many people have died. Enough, enough, enough, we say. We urge you to pray that this war is over. We urge you to work, to lobby, to advocate. All we want this Christmas is a comprehensive ceasefire.”
Christmas: Tinubu approves 50% cut in fare; train transport free
PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has approved a 50 percent cut in land transportation fares from December 21 to January 4, 2024 across the country.
The President has also approved zero fare for train transportation in all the states of the federation within the same period.
The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Dele Alake disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said that all the logistics on the implementation have been worked out between the Minister of Transportation and the transport unions and luxurious buses owners.
According to him, "This Presidential initiative is to give succor to the masses. It is on record that the massive don’t patronize airport trapping. The programme is not beyond the affordability of the government."

Sosoliso Crash Survivor Kechi Okwuchi Pays Tribute To Victims 18 Years After
Survivor of the tragic Sosoliso plane crash 18 years ago and America's Got Talent star, Kechi Okwuchi, has paid a tribute to the 60 schoolmates lost in the devastating incident.
In an X post on Sunday, Kechi asked the 60 angels to keep watching over her and one other who survived, as she made more memories for them.
Kechi wrote, "Dear 60 Angels, 18 years have passed since the Sosoliso plane crash that took your lives among other dear souls while sparing mine and 1 other.
"Another year, another new set of milestones. All for you. Please keep watching over me as I make even more memories for u.”
The America's Got Talent star was a student of Loyola Jesuit College and was aboard the plane when it crashed in Port Harcourt International Airport on December 10, 2005, killing 106 people, including 60 schoolmates.

“Sunday Igboho Was In Exile All Along Buhari’s Time, When A Yoruba Man Came, Agitation Subsided” According to Sheikh Gumi
Popular Yoruba rights activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as “Igboho,” was exiled during Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, according to Kaduna-based Islamic scholar and public affairs analyst Sheikh Ahmed Gumi. However, his agitation stopped when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office.
The Sun reported that Sheikh Ahmed Gumi stated this in an exclusive interview.
Recall that Sunday Igboho, who was in exile in Benin Republic for many months has been released and has traveled out of the country.
Sheikh Ahmed Gumi, who is known for his outspokenness while speaking about the recent development in Kaduna State said; “See how the Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo went to see Nnamdi Kanu and spoke to him. So, the government delegated some Igbo leaders to pacify the situation.”
He added; “Sunday Igboho was in exile all along Buhari’s time, When a Yoruba man came, agitation subsided. So, if Igbo could deal with their problem and Yoruba could deal with their problem, then, we in the North can deal with our problem.”
He stated further; “We can deal with it. Unfortunately during the past administration, Buhari failed because he had a personal problem. He was not listening. The extra-judicial killings were worst during Buhari’s time. Our people told me that they have never suffered bloody attacks like during Buhari’s time. Many called Buhari “Baba go-slow”

Officers of the Orile Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 27-year-old suspected cultist, Ahmed Ololade aka Small Mercy.
This was revealed in a post on the command's official X handle on Sunday.
According to the post, Ololade was arrested in possession of one local pistol, live cartridges, and charms amongst others.
The caption read, "27-year-old suspected cultist, Ahmed Ololade aka Small Mercy, has been arrested by officers of Orile Division in possession of the following items: 1 locally made pistol, 2 single barrel shotguns, 6 live cartridges, 7 live 7.65mm ammunition, 1 live 9mm ammunition, two axes, and charms."
It added that the investigation of the case was ongoing.

Court remands Catholic Priest, Rev Father Nwaigwe, For r@ping and impregnating a minor in Anambra.
The Children, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Court sitting at the Chief Magistrate's court in Awka, Anambra State, has remanded a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Nwaigwe Stephen, for allegedly r@ping and impregnating a minor.
The magistrate ordered the prosecutor to transmit the original case file to the office of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Anambra State, Daily Trust reported on Sunday, November 26, 2023.
The priest was also accused of forcefully taking the pregnant minor to Benin City, Edo State, where she was delivered of her baby, but police investigation revealed that the whereabouts of the said baby is still unknown.
The offence of having s3xual in*******se with a minor, is punishable under section 34(2) of the Child’s Rights Law of Anambra State, 2004.
Nwaigwe was among the priests expelled by a popular Catholic Faith-Based Religious Congregation in Orlu, Imo State, known as the Two Hearts of Love Congregation” (Ugwu Nso) in 2018, for alleged misconduct inimical to the image of the order.
The priest had reportedly met the teenager at the St. Albert The Great Catholic Church Parish, Obosi, Anambra State, where he was invited for a religious church programme.
The victim, while answering questions in court during remand proceedings on Monday November 20, said the priest took her from her parents to live with him when she was 14 years old, promising to sponsor her education, while she equally served as his cook.
She stated that not long after she moved into the priest’s house, he allegedly started forcing himself s3xually on her, saying he continued the act until she became pregnant at the age of 17.
The minor further stated that when she informed the priest about her pregnancy, the priest took her from Ihiala Anambra State, where they lived, to somewhere in Benin City, Edo, to the house of a man...

Chimobi Ezenwa, an Igbo man whose mansion said to be worth N300 million was demolished in Lagos, says he is now homeless.
The Lagos State Government recently commenced the destruction of houses said to be in contravention of Lagos masterplan and quite interestingly, majority of these houses only belong to Igbo people.
Residents in the Abule Ado area of the state were filmed hurriedly removing their belongings after being given a 2 hours grace before demolition commences.
In a video trending on social media, one of those affected by the demolition said his house was pulled down without prior notice.
He said: “My name is Chimobi Ezenwa and I am one of the victims of the ongoing demolition here in Abule Ado, Lagos.
“This is my property, it has been demolished and there was no notice before encroaching on my property and destroying it. Even if I didn’t have an FHA (Federal Housing Authorities) allocation, if they asked me to pay for reclaiming of the land, I was ready to pay.”

Gold refinery factory:Captain Ibrahim TROARE builds the first “made in Burkina🇧🇫 Faso” ingots in 11 months.
This refinery will have a refining capacity of 400 kg of gold per day and around 150 tonnes per year and the first ingots of refined 24 carat gold are expected in 11 months, indicated Minister Simon Pierre BOUSSIM.
Also, the President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, invited the gold miners to bring the gold back to the interior, because SONASP is the structure which will now buy back the gold for refining on site.

Army Chief Pays Condolence Visit To Widow Of Ex-COAS, Alli
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has paid a condolence visit to Dorothy Alli, widow of the Late former COAS, Major General Chris Alli (retd.), at his Osborne Foreshore Estate residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Photos from the visit was shared on the page of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday.
According to the statement which accompanied the photos, Lagbaja was accompanied by some top brass of the Nigerian Army, during the visit on Wednesday.
The statement partly read, "Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a bouquet of flowers to the widow and signing of the condolence register in honour of the late COAS."
Alli died in the early hours of Sunday November 19, 2023, after a brief illness at the Military Hospital Lagos.
All Nigerian Army formations and units across the country are currently on a three-day mourning to honour the late COAS.

"I am in pain and heartbroken" - Nigerian woman raises alarm over mysterious disappearance of her husband after he left home for unknown destination
A Nigerian woman, Confidence, has raised alarm over the disappearance of her 28-year-old husband, Mohammed Bashir Chukwunonso, in Lagos State.
LIB gathered that the father of two from Imo State left home for work in Victoria Island on Tuesday morning, November 7, 2023, but has not returned.
In a message sent to LIB, Confidence narrated that her husband returned home at noon and went out again. When he came back around 6pm, they discussed travelling to the East for the Christmas holidays.
He left home shortly after their discussion without disclosing his destination and has not been seen since then.
“I am in pain and heartbroken. On the 7th of this month my husband by name Mohammad Bashir Chukwunonso went to work in the morning returned by 3 in the afternoon and go out again came back by 6pm and we discuss about our traveling to the East by December after that he told me he is coming without telling me exactly where he was going till now we have not seen or heard anything about him, his phone has not been connecting up till today,” she lamented.
"Pls help me post him. Maybe we can get some information about his whereabouts.
“He's 28 years old with two kids, 3 years and 11 months from Imo State, lives and works in Victoria Island, Lagos State. I don't have money to pay you. Please help me."

Super Eagles of Nigeria have settled for a disappointing 1-1 draw against the Warriors of Zimbabwe, to make it two consecutive draws in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Peseiro rang five changes into the starting lineup with Bruno Onyemeachi, Ola Aina, Nathan Tella, Terrim Moffi and Moses Simon introduced.
The Eagles, however, went behind in the first half after a thunderbolt free-kick from Walter Musona in the 26th minute beat Francis Uzoho in goal for Nigeria.
After an unimpressive first half, the Eagles upped the ante pushing Zimbabwe on the back foot.
Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho found the back of the net in the 67th minute with a curler after being teed up by Moses Simon.
The Eagles made several attempts to get a winner but the Zimbabweans held still at the neutral ground to deny the Peseiro-led side a victory in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles currently sit 2nd in the group with their chances of topping the group and booking an automatic ticket to the 2026 World Cup further exacerbated with their second consecutive draw in just about their second match in the group.
