For those who never knew this:

OKRIKA

During colonial times, second-hand clothes were ferried to Nigeria from abroad via the Okrika jetty/ wharf (Rivers State). To date, second-hand clothes all over Nigeria are called Okrika. However, the word 'Okrika' is a corruption of the name 'Wakirika', which means 'we are all one'. What a beautiful name.

How do you like your eggs?

Eggs have lots of nutrients, but the health boost you get depends on the way you prepare the meal. Although there are tons of ways to serve them up, the benefits of boiled eggs can go a long way.

One egg has about only 72 calories, but 6 grams of high-quality protein, 5 grams of fat, and 1.6 grams of saturated fat, along with iron, vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids.

The egg is also a powerhouse of disease-fighting nutrients like lutein and zeaxanthin. These carotenoids may reduce the risk of age-related macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in older adults.

Eat atleast a boiled egg daily.

In terms of preparation, the only difference between soft-boiled and hard-boiled eggs is how long they spend cooking. There are plenty of nutrients in boiled eggs regardless of how long they're in the heat, but harder-boiled eggs are a better bet when it comes to avoiding harmful bacteria like salmonella.

Charity Begins At Home: Condemn the Slaughter of Over 200 Christians killed in Plateau by Islamic Fulani Herdsmen Before Talking About The State Sponsored Insecurity in the East: IPOB Blasts Shettima

IPOB PRESS RELEASE,

The reckless and unguided statement from Nigeria Vice President Alhaji Shettima, who said Tinubu's government will end insecurity in the Southeast, is an indication that Tinubu's government is planning a genocide against Ndigbo, more so, it is a smart way of diverting attention from the genocide his boys are committing in Plateau State. The founder of terrorist and sponsors can deceive or divert the attention of some gullible Nigerians but not the IPOB movement led by the indomitable and unbreakable leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu the Great.

In a recent visit of the Vice President to the country home of the Deputy House of Representative, in Bende, Abia State, the Nigeria Vice President was quoted as saying that Tinubu's government will end terrorism in the Southeast. The hypocritical vice president didn't condemn the barbaric murder of innocent Christians in Plateau State by his boys, the Fulani terrorist herdsmen nicknamed, bandits, but had the temerity to talk about State sponsored insecurity in the Southeast. The whole world knows that the Southeast has been the most peaceful region in the zoo called Nigeria, according to the United Nations peace index report. Those responsible for the violent crimes and kidnappings in the Southeast are the Federal Government of Nigeria's sponsored Fulani herdsmen bandits and some misguided Igbo criminals hired just to blackmail Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the IPOB movement. However, if Tinubu's government has found it worthy to restore peace in Alaigbo by calling their recruited criminals and their Boko Haram security outfits to order, that will be a welcome development.

The only way Tinubu can stop insecurity and insurgency in the southeast region is to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Every dick and Harry need to calm down and start checkmating the criminals in our mist. This event held in the personal house of the Deputy House Speaker in Bende is an APC political party or jamboree to congratulate themselves of rigging themselves back into state and local governments. Hope Uzodinma had done the same in Owerri three months ago, Dave Umahi did it in Ebonyi state during his term as governor of that state. All these did not work because it was political show-off or jamboree by APC politicians and their governments.

There won’t be peace in the southeast until Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is released. To Restore genuine peace in the region

The following conditions should be met:

1). They should release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from DSS solitary confinement because everyone in the Southeast is behind him.

2). Withdraw all Fulani herdsmen and order them to desist from killing our people and taking our farmlands, ra**ng, and attacking Biafran communities in their bid to forcefully occupy our land for grazing their animals and to stop displacing the indigenous people from their lands all over Nigeria but in Biafra territory, in particular.

3). Stop all the military and police checkpoints stationed across Alaigbo to harass, extort, kidnap, and kill innocent Biafrans at any little provocation. Until these dangerous checkpoints on our roads are removed, there will be no peace.

4) Release all the IPOB members abducted unjustly by the Nigeria DSS and taken to the North and placed in dungeons of the army, the police, and DSS. There will be no peace until these are done.

5). The northern oligarch must stop insisting on imposing criminals and murderous individuals on us as Igbo political leaders, like Nyesom Wike and others. The gathering of PIPE - P is a gathering of political vultures and have no different agenda from their predecessors who have displayed such political wickedness during their tenure in the past.

It is said that charity begins at home. We expect that the Vice President Alhaji Shettima address the murderous activities of Boko Haram and other terrorist groups ravaging the Northern Nigeria before addressing the menace of their state-sponsored criminals in Biafra land.
He can't claim innocence and ignorance of the activities of the wahhabi terrorists in the North. Alhaji Shettima was among the Northern elites who sponsored and propelled the Islamic Jihadist movement in Nigeria. The idea of blackmailing Ndigbo with the State sponsored insecurity while hiding their marauding jihadists and terrorists Boko haram is dead on arrival.

The deceptive statement from the Vice President, Alhaji Shettima, should be a source of concern to Ndigbo. Every Biafran should understand that the fulanization agenda is still much on course. Shettima, you can only deceive those your political jobbers, not intelligent people like IPOB members. The recent massacre of Christians in Plateau State is a pointer for what is to expect from the Jihadist government of Nigeria.

The unfortunate statement from Alhaji Shettima is a pointer that the Jihadists government in Nigeria perhaps has concluded plans to commence long awaited ethnic cleansing agenda against Ndigbo in the name of quelling insecurity that they created in Biafra Land. Ndigbo should be careful and not be carried away by the divide and conquer tactics of the government.

The federal government of Nigeria and their media strategy is used to hype up the insecurity in the East while playing down the terrorist activities in the North. There have been bubbling peaceful Christmas season's activities in the East on Christmas Day and throughout the season of Christmas. On the contrary, there had been massacre of Plateau Christians by Fulani terrorists disrupting the season's festivities for those Christians. The more they try to demonize Ndigbo, the more our God vindicates us.

If there is a region of terrorism concern, it should be the Northern region of the damnable Republic of animal kingdom known as Nigeria, not the Southeast region.

If indeed Tinubu's government is serious in addressing the insecurity in the East, the antidote to that manufactured insecurity is the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. If Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is released today, the double agents terrorizing Alaigbo will have no more justification of using his name in their criminalities. But the idea of intimidating the Supreme Court Justices to use the instrumentality of laws to illegally detain Mazi Nnamdi Kanu so that the government can buy time to unleash more blackmail on IPOB will be resisted. It is unfortunate that Nigeria's Supreme Court Justices condemned the Federal Government for the illegal abduction and extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu yet lacks the courage to deliver justice. The weakness and cowardice that the Supreme Court Justices displayed in the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has shown to the world that Nigeria is a pariah state.

Any time you hear such a bloody statement from a terrorist sympathetic government against Ndigbo, they are up to something no good.

Therefore, IPOB is warning Tinubu's government to abort any plans of military invasion of Biafra land or of sending their foot soldiers, the fulani bandits and herdsmen, to start mass killings in the Southeast, IPOB volunteers and ESN will always defend our land against murderous criminals.

COMRADE EMMA POWERFUL, MEDIA, AND PUBLICITY SECRETARY FOR IPOB.

The Iconic Honda Motorcycles

By Uche Nworah, Ph.D

This was the real deal back then in Aba. There was the 175 and later 185 series. I think 195 later came out too. Picture the average Igbo guy man on Sunday cruising in one, with his babe or wife at the back and holding on to him tightly. That was the complete look with flared bongo trousers and 7-layers shoes.

To think that many actually robbed, killed and stole to own this bike. This is a serious lesson in life. Onye egbule onwe ya, uwa wu ihe efu.

It was also common to encounter some guys on the highway on their 175 or 185 cruising to the village. It used to be a sight to behold. A thing of pride I must say too for those who owned it. Many pimped out theirs too.

I learnt to ride a motorcycle with one of these. It belonged to James, a trailer driver who was living in our ‘yard’ (LOL) at the time. It was his late brother Osita that actually taught me. We used to take the treasured bike out for a spin whenever James went on one of his long distance journeys. Very heavy piece of equipment to handle and manoeuvre I thought. I was barely out of secondary school then so you can imagine my lean and lanky frame but I had to learn it as it was like a right of passage among the boys living in our area.

Those were the days.

Breaking News: Nnamdi Kanu Is Down

Reports reaching leadership has it that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is having Some health complication as he is having an “internal vein bleeding” a serious health issue that need urgent attention.

We must all rise up to make sure Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is released immediately to undergo a thorough medical examination and treatment even the medical director can confirm that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s health needs urgent medical attention .

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu current medical condition is suspected to be caused by things like trauma from torture (including internal puncture wounds, fractures, and blunt force injuries) as well as ruptured aneurysms and bleeding disorders. The overuse of certain drugs can also be one of the serious causes of such health issue . Moreover , this particular health issue is a medical emergency and should be treated immediately by medical professionals.

Enemies of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the struggle Should know that We’re not complaining for their indefinite detention of the Biafran leader or asking Nigeria government to take this issue serious because we already know what their plans are .
Their plans is for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to die in detention and their alternate hatched plans by some Igbo politicians like Dave Umahi , Hope Uzodinma, Emeka Ofor etc and some religious leaders in south East is to make sure Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is jailed for life.

Let’s this be a very clear warning to those enemies of Biafra restoration, IPOB/ESN will not tolerate any more Nigeria court proceedings against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu , because the Nigerian Judiciary has proven time without number that it’s the worst place for anyone seeking for self -determination can get justices .

We know where the Nigeria government and some Igbo politicians are heading to , all their plans against MNK is to jail him for life imprisonment or a minimum of 25yrs , so they can have enough time to destroy IPOB/ESN .

The enemies of Biafrans should know and be ready for a serious confrontation as they venture into this journey of Nigeria disintegration .

NDI IGBO: THE SERMON AND MAGIC OF 20 POUNDS AND OTHER MATTERS

Someone asked me, is it really true that after the civil war, Nigeria made a law and the only thing Igbos were entitled to was 20 pounds, no matter how much they had in the bank? The answer is yes, it is so cruel that sane people would doubt it.

It was intended to create a generational almajiric poverty pandemic but it failed, we reached deep down our inner man, "perspire to acquire" and we rose.

What that meant is this, averagely, Igbos were rendered so poor, so miserable that they had to start afresh with just 20 pounds in 1970, immediately after the civil war.

Then;
Today, if you must maintain over 80% of the cars in Nigeria, you are over 90% sure of paying to Igbos as they are everywhere providing your car spare parts needs......from 20 pounds we rose!

Today, if there are 4 Nigerians in diaspora making Nigeria proud, in invention, in academics, in every human endeavor, you are 95% sure that 2 out of the 4 are Igbos.....from 20 pounds, we rose

Today, if you must build, you are over 70% certain of paying to Igbos, as they are scattered everywhere rendering services of making building materials available....from 20 pounds, we rose!

Today, if you feel too good with yourself that you want to change your electronics, ICT gadgets, phones.. etc, there are over 50% chances you will be paying the Igbos.....from 20 pounds, we rose.

Today, probably looking at half of your wardrobe, there are 50% chances you paid directly or indirectly to Igbos....from 20 pounds, we rose!

Today, if you are tired of government failed healthcare system, there are 50% chances that your need of private medical care will be provided by Igbos.....from 20 pounds, we rose.

Today, if you are able to afford your medications provided by indigenous pharmaceutical firms as against the CUT THROAT price of multi national brands, there are over 70% chances that Igbos are meeting your need.....from 20 pounds, we rose!

If you must watch movies, there are over 70% chances that we will be on your faces....from 20 pounds, we rose!
If you must watch Nigeria entertain you with football as national pride, there are over 60% chances that Igbos are the one making you happy.....from 20 pounds, we rose!

If your Olympic team must make sense, there are about 50% chances that you have embraced Igbos....from 20 pounds, we rose!

See, you can no longer destroy Igbos without rendering Nigeria eternally colourless. Yes, you can't destroy Igbos again.

They say we boast and gloat, if your ancestors passed through what ours passed through and in a little above 5 decades, you rose to where we are, your boast will be more than ours....besides, boasting is not a "sin" punishable by death, hate or hunting down.

We are no longer begging for survival, we are stamping our feet that we will no longer apologise for being Igbos.
You might not like our boasts, you might not like our noise, is that not little a price for the colour we add to Nigeria?

Look around you, tell me the truth, if Igbos are removed from your immediate environ, how colourful will that your environ still be? Your doctor, your football star, movie star, pharmacist, pharmacy, private hospital, petty traders, spare parts supplier, building material supplier, music stars, cloth and shoe makers...etc etc?
We add colour to what is remained of Nigeria.

We are not actually your problem as you have been deceived to believe, we are largely a pool of solution you swim in without knowing.
We are Igbos, we survived the Nigerian Holocaust and genocide!

20 Pounds and A Case of Starvation

“At the end of the war, a Nigerian Panel concluded that every Igbo person who had an account in any Nigerian bank before the Civil War was to receive 20 Pounds.”

The year was 1970 and it never really mattered how much you had in the bank. A million Nigerian Pounds? Or one thousand? The panel didn’t care. You got 20 Pounds. This was in stark contrast to the “No Victor, No Vanquished” speech by Yakubu Gowon and the subsequent “Reconciliation, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation” program which to date is still the first-ever Okoto meow talk ever.

Usually tagged as the first televised war, millions of people around the world watched the abject horrors of deliberate starvation by the Nigerian government play out on their television screens. Until then, the idea of a malnourished African child was a thing of “the papers” as they were seen on TV screens.

The Biafran War saw the Nigerian government use starvation (an established war crime) as a method of warfare which led to the death of millions of kids during the war. To date, no major players from the Nigerian government dead or alive have ever answered to this.

Chief Obafemi Awolowo, who is mostly revered by the southwesterners, was one of the key people behind these two damaging facts of the Civil War. In his denial after the war, he claimed that the vehicles carrying the food were always ambushed by the rebel soldiers and taken to the barracks to feed themselves and be able to fight the war. Evidence??? None!

It is also quite sad that these actions were supported by Nigerians who argue that Awo did what he had to do to win the war and that “All is fair in War”. In my opinion, Awo was a coward.

On the 20 pounds policy (the first-ever large-scale fraud by the Nigerian government), Awo claimed that the pounds in the banks were “looted”. Who looted Nigerian banks? How? Did Biafra troops ever get to Lagos? Furthermore, Awo claimed that he laid down the principle that all those who had savings in the banks on the eve of the declaration of the Biafran War or Biafra, will get their money back if they could satisfy us that they had the savings there or the money there. Don’t banks have their records?

On January 15th 2020, Nigeria celebrated its Armed Forces Remembrance Day and social media, especially Twitter was awash with discussions by young Igbos who have heard tales of the war from their parents and older relatives. With more insights from books written by Chinua Achebe, General Alexander Madiebo, Frederick Forsyth and a host of others, there is clear evidence that Igbos are beginning to learn more about the history that has been long denied and suppressed by the Nigerian government.

50 years after the Civil War, the southeast region still suffers from the actions and decisions of the Nigerian government. Parents still suffer PTSD from the war and have refused to talk. The few who have can’t go all the way because it takes them back to a period they most likely want to forget. Families were torn apart and never recovered, and properties never recovered even after the so-called “No Victor, No Vanquished” speech.

Infrastructure in the southeast is at its poorest state, decades of INTENTIONAL neglect from the leaders of the country, not forgetting the sad and irritating silence of OUR OWN SOUTHEAST leaders, have all placed the southeast at the mercy of the Nigerian government.

We are still marginalized at every single opportunity. We are still treated with the 20 Pounds mindset of 1970. We are still starved of what is our right and what do we do about it? Keep mum and act like it’s all good. No, it’s not.

Despite the deliberate attempt to bring down the Igbos with the 20 pounds policy, we have risen above the challenge. In a short period, we were able to bounce back and rebuild our region all by ourselves. Without the aid of the Nigerian Government. This is due to the strong communal spirit of the Igbos to ensure that everyone is carried along.
