Sadly, we share the news that local luminary, singer-songwriter, and friend of the store and community Tom Prasada-Rao has passed away. There will be more remembrances later, including this Sunday’s The Musical Traditions Encounter show on Takoma Radio from 5-7, that David will dedicate entirely to Tom’s memory and appreciation.

In November of 2023, Eleanor Ellis and Ash Devine collaborated on their first tour together, traveling from New Orleans to the FL Panhandle where they performed in numerous roots and Americana-themed music venues. During performances, the two typically perform some solos and some duos. Eleanor and Ash are both accomplished guitar pickers, each bringing their own unique guitar styles and specialties, and together blending seamlessly across the folk, old-time, roots, and blues genres. Together, their voices blend with effortless tonal compatibility as they trade harmonies. At the same time, their fingerstyle guitar duets and trading of solos create a timeless and heartfelt demonstration of the tradition of a multi-generational musical collaboration.

House of Musical Traditions has a large collection of HDs for sale ranging from starter instruments to collectibles and high-end models from several builders, including Sam Rizzetta, Dusty Strings, James Jones, David Lindsey, and Masterworks. Karen Ashbrook will be demoing instruments from noon until 4:00 on Saturday. Sunday hours 12pm-4pm.
Free parking! Light refreshments and SNACKS. Handicap accessible.
Instruments will be on display a block from the HMT store at the School of Musical Traditions, 7112 Willow Ave, Takoma Park, MD.
