IVORY PARK FAMILY IN NEED OF HELP

A family of four (4) in Ivory Park Extension 2 has been left homeless and in need of assistance after a tragic fire ravaged their home.

The fire, which was caused by a gas leak due to the lack of electricity in the area, has destroyed all their belongings, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

The family, led by Nokubonga Malambe, is appealing to the community for urgent help to rebuild their lives. They are in need of essential items such as clothing, food, and any other basic necessities that will help them get back on their feet after this heartbreaking event.

The fire, which occurred earlier this week, has left the family devastated as they relied on gas for their daily cooking needs. With no electricity in the area, the gas stove was their only option, and a sudden gas leak led to the disaster.

A Call for Support
We, as the Ivory Park community, have always stood strong together in times of need. This is one of those moments where we can make a difference. Let us rally around this family, showing them that they are not alone during this difficult time.

The family is appealing for donations of clothing in the following sizes:
- Sister (10 years old): Clothing Size 10-12, Shoe Size 4
- Brother: Clothing Size 30, T-shirt size Medium, Shoe Size 7
- Mother : Clothing Size 32, Shoe Size 7
- Nokubonga: Clothing Size 30, Shoe Size 5

For those willing to assist, donations can be made directly to the family. You can reach Nokubonga Malambe at 083 358 3083 for more information or visit the family at Ivory Park Extension 2.

CONSTRUCTION OF R28m HIKHENSILE CLINIC UNDERWAY

The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA), on behalf of the City of Johannesburg's Health Department, has commenced with the construction of the brand new Hikhensile Clinic on Lekologa Street, Ivory Park.

The significant development marks a monumental step forward in enhancing community healthcare services in the region. The old Hikhensile Clinic was demolished to pave way for a modern, state of the art 2173m² facility, demonstrating the City of Johannesburg's commitment to providing primary healthcare facilities.

The new, R28 million, Hikhensile Clinic construction aims to:
• Improve health service delivery
•Create a visibly improved social service
• Support local economic development, including local SMMEs
• Encourage further investment and upgrading in the area
• Promote improved social cohesion

Upon completion, the clinic will feature a comprehensive array of facilities, including:
- Entrance Hall: A welcoming space that provides easy access to the various sections of the clinic, ensuring smooth patient flow and accommodating a large number of visitors.
- Reception: A centrally located area where patients can check in, receive information, and be directed to the appropriate services, ensuring an organised and efficient experience.
- Waiting Area: A spacious, 159-seat waiting area designed to accommodate patients and
their families as they wait for consultations or treatments, with seating arrangements that
promote comfort and privacy.
- 16 Consultation Rooms: Private rooms equipped with modern medical tools and equipment, allowing healthcare professionals to conduct thorough examinations, consultations, and treatments in a confidential environment.
- Treatment Room: A specialised room for administering various medical treatments and
procedures, equipped with the necessary medical equipment and supplies to ensure patient safety and care.
- Isolation Room: A dedicated room designed to isolate and treat patients with contagious
illnesses, preventing the spread of infections within the clinic.
- Resuscitation Room: A critical care room equipped with advanced life-saving equipment and supplies, designated for emergency situations where immediate medical intervention is required.
- Rehydration Rooms: Rooms equipped to provide intravenous fluids and other treatments to patients suffering from dehydration or related conditions, ensuring prompt and effective care.
- Blood Room: A specialised area for blood sampling, testing, and storage, ensuring accurate diagnostics and safe handling of blood-related procedures.
- Linen Rooms: Designated rooms for the storage and management of clean linens and
medical garments, ensuring hygiene and efficiency in the clinic’s operations.
- Ablution Facilities: Clean and accessible restrooms equipped with modern sanitary fixtures, ensuring patient and staff comfort and hygiene.
- Water Storage Tank: A robust water storage system to ensure a reliable supply of clean
water for all clinical and sanitary needs, maintaining high standards of hygiene and
operational efficiency

“The clinic will be executed in two phases. Phase 1 will include the construction of a singlestory structure featuring six consultation rooms, a counseling room, a vital room, a doctor’s room, and a social worker room, as well as external works, parking, paving, and all necessary electrical and mechanical works,” JDA Executive Manager: Project Implementation, Mr Siyabonga Genu said.

The construction of the clinic will also play a critical role in job creation and skills development, with 30% of the contract value being awarded to SMMEs in the ward.
