Aluel Garang, popularly known as Aluel Messi was officially sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Warrap State in a ceremony held on Friday. The inauguration event was graced by President Kiir, who emphasized the importance of collaboration, among government officials to effectively serve the people of Warrap.

President Kiir directly addressed Aluel Garang. Encouraged her to unite with her colleagues in the State administration working diligently for the betterment of the citizens of Warrap.

Governor Manhiem Bol Malek expressed optimism that Aluels political party, known as Parties (OPP) would offer her the necessary support as she undertakes her responsibilities within the State.

Peter Mayen Majongdit, who is both Aluels spouse and leader of the opposition consortium OPP reaffirmed their commitment to stand by the Deputy Governor. Their support aims to empower her in fulfilling her role.

Aluel Garang assumed office on July 28th this year taking over from Deborah Odul who has transitioned into a role within the National Assembly.

Prior to her appointment Aluel had a career, as a football player.

Deputy Juba Mayor demands UN peacekeepers clean Juba every Saturday

The City Council deputy mayor for infrastructure, Thiik Thiik, has asked the UN peacekeepers to clean Juba every Saturday.

Thiik was speaking during the clean up campaign organized by the ministry of environment to mark the World Environment Day.

“You people of UNMISS have been hearing from our leaders, starting from the president to the five vice presidents. They say this country will not go back to war . So, you are here to contribute to the development and this is the development,” Thiik said. “I want you every Saturday to please come out with your forces; let us clean this city together.”

President Kiir visits veteran politician Joseph Lagu, wishing him good health.

JUBA, 8th June 2023 - President Kiir paid homage to General Joseph Lagu Yanga at his residence in Juba, expressing well wishes for his health.

Presidential Affairs Minister Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin expressed President Kiir's gratitude to Gen. Lagu for his exceptional leadership and significant role in the liberation struggle for South Sudan's freedom.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Josephine Lagu conveyed the family's appreciation for the President's visit and the opportunity for their beloved father to interact with him.

The 94-year-old former Anyanya leader, Joseph Lagu, encouraged President Kiir to continue his commendable efforts in restoring peace and unifying the country.
