🙌The Latino-led remake of "Father of the Bride" broke HBO Max's streaming-only movie record. Starring Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan, the 2020 remake premiered during Father's Day weekend and attracted the largest audience of any HBO Max movie that has streamed exclusively on the platform.

🎥"Billy (Andy Garcia) and Ingrid (Gloria Estefan) are surprised when their eldest daughter Sofia (Adria Arjona) announces a new fiancé, Adan (Diego Boneta), and plans for a quick wedding. The news keeps Billy and Ingrid from announcing that they’re planning to divorce… but they hold off for the benefit of the family." - HBO

👏The romantic comedy was the No. 1 title across HBO Max around the world in its first four days since it launched on Thursday, June 16.

🇩🇴Lulu Cordero (.ceo.bomba) is the founder and CEO of the award-winning curly hair care brand Bomba Curls ().

👩‍🦱The line launched in September 2019 and began selling in retail stores in 2020 amidst the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, it has sold in Nordstrom (which has sold out three times by the time of our interview with Cordero), JCPenney, and it is now officially, the first female-owned Afro-Dominican haircare brand sold at Target.

🗣"This is deeper than hair. This is curls, this is culture, this is about uplifting a community. This is about bringing that representation. This is about making people feel good. This is about also making our community feel seen! Because for a very long time we have been invisible and it's high time that we change that. It's high time that people saw us and it's high time to start celebrating us! That is exactly what Bomba Curls is all about. I'm super proud of what we are accomplishing, the barriers that we are breaking, and showing the world that success can look like us too– with our melanin, with our curls, and our kinks! We are Bomba baby!

📚Introducing The Mujerista Book Club: Our community reading group for promoting our love of Latinx authors and libros. We are curating our pick of the month and encourage you to read along with us and take part in our group discussions via The Mujerista Network. The goal is to highlight and support Latinx authors while providing a space for our community to chat about our passion for books. We will be sharing prompts, favorite quotes and at the end of the month, we’ll gather virtually to discuss.

✍️To start off your summer reading list, this month’s pick is Gabriela Garcia’s () “Of Women and Salt,” which follows Latina women of fierce pride and longing, all irrevocably linked by the inheritance of trauma, and the stories between them. It is a haunting meditation on the choices of mothers and the tenacity of women who choose to tell their stories despite those who wish to silence them.

➡️Swipe to get a look at our reading schedule and more information on the author. Make sure to join us for book discussions on The Mujerista Network (link in bio) and for our virtual gathering on June 30th at 7 PM—moderated by Yiselle of .

We continue to mourn the devastating deaths of 19 fourth-grade children and their 2 beloved teachers in what is now the second-deadliest school shooting in U.S. history. This senseless act has shaken our community as it has impacted a predominantly Latino community, and many of us are seeking for ways in which we can help immediately and in the weeks to come. Here are some ways we can show up for the community of Uvalde 👆

1️⃣ Make monetary donations through centralized hub of verified fundraisers; First Bank of Uvalde is accepting donations via Zelle that will go directly to the families; has created a fund where 100% of donations will go to directly assisting families.
2️⃣ Share the mental health services and resources being offered to the community like ’s offer of free therapy to the victims and survivors.
3️⃣ Consider donating blood now and in the weeks to come to rebuild supply for when others are in need of the future—especially now where we are facing shortages across the country.
4️⃣ The San Antonio Legal Services Association is seeking licensed attorneys in Texas to volunteers legal services to assist victims and their families.
5️⃣ Get involved with organizations like and advocating for gun safety legislation and an end to gun violence.
6️⃣ Contact your senators and urge them to pass the HR8 legislation that would tighten background checks.

🙏 Thank you to , , and for being a resource in compiling this list. If you are aware of others in which we can all unite to support please share with us below 👇

🦸‍♀️ As America Chavez in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" Xochitl Gomez (.gomez) has become the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first q***r, Latina superhero. She is also the Marvel franchise's first Mexican-American teen to portray a superhero.

🎙In an interview with Teen Vogue, Gomez shared how she feels about her historic casting, saying, “I feel like America represents so much in the MCU. I’m excited for the world to meet America Chavez because she’s a powerful, smart, charismatic, q***r Latina, and the fact that Marvel brought her from the comics to the MCU is really exciting.”

“I think you feel if movies or TV shows are being made and about people that have similar cultures and heritage that you have, it validates you and it makes you feel like your story matters and that your life is important,” Gomez says. “Everybody has a better understanding of others outside their culture when you get a chance to see their stories on-screen.”

🎉 Felicidades to our new favorite superhero, .gomez 🦸‍♀️

Hola #Mujerista

I'm Marivette. Founder of The Mujerista.

This is a space for Latinas. A place to empower the future generations that will come to represent a significant portion of the world's population and a powerful contributor to economies worldwide. The future very much depends on the advancement of Latinas. Yet with so much ahead, Latinas continue to face numerous barriers and inequalities which damage our ability to develop and progress, from patriarchal or machista social structures to the underrepresentation of Latinas in the media. ¡Ya basta!

We are building something for us to openly share experiences (lo bueno y lo malo) in career, money, beauty, wellness, politics, activism, relationships, lifestyle, creative work...lo que sea. We are creating conversations that affect Latinas and are covered by Latinas. We are redefining what it means to be a Latina and reclaiming it on our own terms since society has taken the liberty to define it on our behalf. At The Mujerista, we are the makers of our own narratives, our Latinidad, our womanhood. This community is where we support and celebrate the power of Latinas. We hope to inform, inspire action, build relationships, explore significant topics, and make this a place where your voice is heard.

So, this is for you. For me. For us. To encourage one another to rise up. To share our strength and ambitions. To talk. To get creative. To exist.
