We had a scare last night. Took Laurel out right before bed and when I went out the door, there were half dozen deer just across the way. Laurel saw them and all at once I braced to make sure I hold on to the leash with two hands… and SNAP! Leash broke and she was GONE! 😳😱 So here it was 11:30 at night and we are calling for Laurel in the woods around campground. Scott brought out Willie to find her.. “get your sister” while I’m trying to see if I can track her and activate her AirTag. After 10 minutes of searching the Georgia woods in the dark, I thought to myself, guess I’ll live here now since I wouldn’t leave without my baby! Haha - right then Payton calls out “here she is!” Right where Willie literally pulled Scott to…Guess our combination of Willie’s hound training (from Laurel) and our recall training WORKED! 🎉 🙌🏼 We have also been working on her prey drive - but obviously still a work in progress… especially when they are RIGHT there and they RUN!

Lesson: We use an expanding leash (only for potty outings,) and she had chewed the fabric a little bit a couple weeks back - so I meant to grab a new one… but didn’t make it a priority. It was a super strong one rated at 120 lbs… but not when it was compromised. Check your leashes, and real leashes are definitely recommended over the expansion leashes! Needless to say she slept well last night… and so did I 💖🥹😅

⚠️ Must call - online booking won’t work; sites are blocked for our group.
⚠️ Be sure it’s Settlers Junction in TOQUERVILLE, as there’s another park with a similar name.
Most sites are huge: 85’ x 36’ — plenty of room for big rigs.

We’ve secured a 20% discount for all rally attendees.
