The European Parliament approved a proposal which will establish a “circular economy” for batteries. The law will let users replace their batteries themselves so the rare materials inside can be reused – a win for both sustainability and repairability.

According to the approved text, end-users must be able to remove the battery in their devices “with the use of commercially available tools,” it states. Removing the battery cannot require heat or chemicals, nor can it require specialized tools unless the manufacturer provides them for free.

Intel initially told partners they would stop “direct investment” in the NUC product line July 11. A week later, they announced that they would be licensing the line to partners like ASUS.

As Intel stops direct investment in NUC, they will allow ASUS to produce existing 11th, 12th and 13th Gen Intel NUC designs, and develop their own in the future.

A federal judge in San Francisco denied the FTC’s request to block Microsoft from purchasing Activision July 10. The FTC appealed to the 9th Circuit and asked to prevent the deal from closing while the appeal is pending. The court denied the request.

The FTC filed a notice of appeal July 13, and asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit to stop Microsoft and Activision Blizzard from closing the deal while the appeal is pending. The court denied the motion.
