Northwest Navy bases will participate in Citadel Rumble 2024 exercise Oct. 15-18, including at NAS Whidbey Island.

The annual exercise tests Navy installations’ capabilities to prepare for, respond to and recover from an exercise scenario that includes multiple hazards. In this case, simulated major earthquakes will trigger other simulated damage and hazardous events.

People near NAS Whidbey Island may see or hear activities related to the multi-day exercise. The Navy aims to minimize impact to the public as much as possible during these exercises.

This exercise, spearheaded by Commander, Navy Installations Command, provides Navy personnel the opportunity to exercise emergency management teams, procedures and partnerships to be better prepared to respond to real-world disasters.
