Just wrapped on ‘s encaustic workshop. We have a couple more *bonus* videos to do. But the filming of the main episodes is done.

This was a shoot I haven’t really done before. We had to get three different angles. We used my Canon C100 MkII as the frontal medium shot. Then we used Kayla’s Fujifilm XH1s to shoot the side and overhead shot.

I’m pretty short, just in case you haven’t noticed by now. So it was SO MUCH FUN when I had to get up on the table (very close to hot wax, btw) and stand on my tiptoes to look at the framing and start recording.

Comfort is one of my main priorities on set. This was a small set with just my sister and I. So I decided to go full-on-Mercy-comfy-outfit, which usually consists of a loose tee and lounge shorts. And since it’s now fall, I brought back my favorite cardigan.
Also, no shoes because who cares if you burn your toes with hot wax sitting inches away from you. LOL. Not me.
I had to complete the look with no makeup and just a braid to keep my hair out of my face.

It’s currently 2am as I’m writing this, so please forgive me if this post seems super random. I’m really tired.

to last March when I shot ’s encaustic class promo.

I’m headed back with Kayla this week to film the actual encaustic class! We already had one mishap where I forgot my tripod (😬) so we had to go back for it. Thankfully, we hadn’t gone very far at that point.

I love shooting videos without audio because I can really concentrate on the shots and how they go together with the song I chose.
-
It took me a long time to find this song. I wanted something upbeat, but still acoustic. A lot of songs I found were electronic synth and that definitely did not go with the vibe of this video.

Her hair and outfit gave me 70's vibes, so I decided to color the video kind of warm and faded.
