“We are speaking from a certain lens of privilege where we can appreciate, but there are people who are hustling bad ... and not seeing an end to it. It’s not for lack of hard work, probably social capital or some finances that is not coming through or something. There are some people who are stuck in a certain rut that they have been in for ages, and it is a cycle that they are going to pass on to their children and children’s children. There are people who have to pay certain taxes, like the black tax, that other people don’t have to pay. If you make it, you are going to have to make sure that you are helping everyone else in your family, and that just keeps you down. You are spreading it thin, and so someone would look at them and say you have to appreciate, and they do have to appreciate. They do have to celebrate their wins, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are still stuck at a certain level which they can never break out of because of the environment that they come from.”
