Here at Schoodic East Magazine our mission is to showcase and promote this bold and largely undiscovered part of Downeast Maine. We seek to engage our readers with stories that feature the many artists, musicians, writers, and fine craftspeople who make their home in this rugged, remote and remarkable corner of Maine. We also want to invite and inspire our readers to experience this unique destina
tion for themselves with stories that feature not only the many outstanding outdoor recreational experiences that abound; but also of the natural splendor of our varied landscapes and seasons that envelops and nurtures the creative, resourceful and innovative spirit of the people who carve a life and living from Maine’s Bold Coast. Writers and photographers are invited to submit their work for consideration. Essays, personal profiles and feature stories are welcome and should reflect the overall character of our publication. Pieces should be anywhere from 750 to 1,500 words in length. Shorter pieces (200 to 500 words) will be considered for reviews of local destinations, books, music and food; and for spotlighting upcoming events, performances and exhibits Digital images that help to tell your story are strongly encouraged and should accompany your work with captions/cutlines. Works of poetry are also welcome from local writers and from those whose work reflects the character and spirit of Maine’s Bold Coast.
