Northbrook native Nick Hardy holed out yesterday from the fairway on his second shot to make an albatross on the par-5 17th hole in the second round of the 2024 Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Because they require two near perfect shots, albatrosses are exponentially rarer than an ace.

Depending on the data source, the odds of making an albatross are between six million to 1 and one million to 1. Comparatively, the odds of the average golfer making a hole-in-one are 12,500 to 1 according to the National Hole-in-One Registry.

A score on a hole equal to three strokes under par in golf is called an albatross or double eagle. An albatross is achieved when a player either scores a two on a par 5 or aces a par 4.

The Village of Bolingbrook and Bolingbrook Golf Club announced today the return of LIV Golf Chicago to Bolingbrook Golf Club, August 8-10, 2025.

The upcoming tournament will take place a month earlier than in 2024, which was held September 13-15.

With a PGA Tour stroke-play event not expected in the Chicagoland area until 2030 at the earliest, LIV is hoping to attract record crowds once again to Bolingbrook. KemperSports

The Golf Dome at the Buffalo Grove Park District opens November 13 and offers a temperature controlled, realistic practice environment, suitable for working on full shots and the short game.

Hit on their 75 yard indoor driving range that offers 32 hitting stations and a putting green.

The Golf Dome is open also to walkers Monday through Friday mornings from 9 – 10 am.

Exmoor Country Club was one of 11 charter clubs that established the Western Golf Association in 1899. The course was initially designed by H.J. Tweedie, but was redesigned in 1914 by famed architect Donald Ross. Ross utilized his trademark green contours and strategic bunkering to bring the course up to early 20th century standards.
